60" Inch Television - Where's all the good deals?

I'm looking for a top deal on a new telly.

Something built well, quality picture, good for gaming.

I got money burning a hole in my pocket - I'd be happy to spend $1300~ - but for that it better be CREAM OF THE CROP.

Things I need:
Top Quality picture, good blacks - its a dark room.
Good Hz - playing games on it.

Things I don't need/don't care about:
3D capable (stupid and pointless).
4k/UHD - no point if standard channels can't stream it and I won't be downloading 4k movies.
Smart technology - Never used the crap on my old TV, who the hell needs to look at a website on a TV when I got a laptop beside me.

I wish I could take a time machine back to Plasma technology…

Is it a bad time to buy? - 2014 stuff all but gone from shelves, 2015 all expensive and new crap I don't need/don't want to pay a premium for… falling AU Dollar… is everything stacked up against me?

Please help - I'm currently trapped in a struggle, using a cheap 17inch monitor and a laptop as an entertainment centre… It's pretty sad to say the least.

    Premium TVs or "cream of the crop" have moved on to 4K, 1080p only TVs are either experimental OLED/curved type TVs at premium prices or low-mid range stuff. With all that said $1300 will definitely not buy you top picture quality at 60", but you can still get good gaming qualities. I would think you would need to cut back on a few priorities, as they are dream product specs at that price range.
