In our new exchange rate world where new phones somehow retail for $1100, this phone is great value.

Downside, it doesn't come with the Snapdragon 810 so it doesn't double as a hotplate.

    • Is that a sarcastic comment re hotplate? Are you meaning that it does not get very hot?
Or it doesn't have a fast processor (?), therefore it is not as multifunctional as it could be?
      Thank you for clarifying.

      • The Snapdragon 810 is known for its mediocre performance increase but considerable heat output and battery use (which can cause it to throttle itself, slowing it down again.

Not sure of the specifics in benchmarking, but you're probably better off with the 801 in the Z3C.

  • I got the Sony Z3 from them at $655.00, which was a good price.

Only problem was that when I dunked it in the pool, it stopped working. I've sent it back and they are refusing to fix my phone, even it's advertised on their site as being water resistant to the level that I used it at. Just be aware that if you buy from DWI, they will try to mess around with you regarding warranties.

I've heard saltwater pools void warranty

i have heard freshwater only, but in the end they will blame you no matter what. All they look for is the water ingress indicator to change colour.

      • It was a chlorine pool. In any case, the advertising did not specify and thus, it should be covered by the Australian Consumer Guarantees. :D

Yep, all they do is look at the litmus strips in the covers and pretty much blame you for it. The phone is no where near as waterproof as they say - and sony know it.

Good luck arguing too - I bought a local stock from telstra and although telstra were great, sony and their repairer are useless.

Avoid this phone if you are buying for waterproofing features.

  • Tempting…

  • Great phone, the water resistant part is annoying though.

    • You'd rather it didn't have this feature?

      • No i would rather the support would be flexible in regards to water type ie they could call it freshwater resistant
