Lumina Vacuum Sealer from Aldi - help still needed please

EDIT:

Would still appreciate the number for the Aldi bags if possible. Ordered from Ebay as suggested, and they're total cr*p.

Original post:
Can someone who still has their instruction book (we seem to have misplaced ours) please give me the phone number to order more rolls please? From memory it's toward the back of the book.

TIA

    • How have you found the Aldi vacuum sealer thus far?
I am hoping to get one next time Aldi has them.

Fine - we've had it for 3 or 4 years and use it quite regularly. I bought masses of bags when we got it, because I'd seen comments around the web that they were impossible to get (though discovered when reading the book that this wasn't the case. I'm intending to replace it next time they have them, because their newer ones will handle wet foods more readily.

      • Haha lol. It sounded a bit suss to me to, so I didn't. lol It seemed a bit weird, asking for a single individual in an organisation like that.

Given that it's not the correct number, it might be wise to message one of the mods and ask them to remove it?

    • That number is for a male escort agency.. :)

just don't ask how I found out ;)

  • Hello OP. I own a sunbeam foodsaver and have been using after market bags from crazy sales since running out shortly after purchase. Simply cut to length. You can also cut them lengthways and create half size bags by sealing along two sides. I find having the rolls very flexible. For packing something I know will be opened multiple times, I will leave extra length to allow for many open/closes without changing the bag. Also comes in a 22cm length if your machine isn't as big. They are slightly thinner, which is only an issue when trying to reuse them multiple times and if vacuum packing particularly pointy foodstuffs. I think you will be able to find them in 2 pack to test out.

Alternatively, actual FoodSaver branded stuff is excellent quality (thicker plastic) but will cost you the earth and break your ozbargs spirit. I think this is what professional kitchens use for sous vide.

I have never used the crazy sales rolls for sous vide and probably wouldn't without confirming the plastic make up. But I don't own a sous vide… yet… As I haven't found the time to build one and/or the right bargain hasn't come along.
