Sounds good… I wonder if you'll be able to transfer a US account over or whether you'll have to make a new one? I'm guessing they'll make you open a new account and you'll lose all your preferences etc. At least you should get 30 days free again :)
Apparently if you cancel your US billing, wait for it to expire then you can sign up with Australian billing. Personally we're not going to change as we're still on the grandfathered $US7.99 plan. If not, we would just to increase the Australian numbers as there's like 40c difference. Still keeping Unblock-US either way.
Will the content be like for like? Or will it be a reduced or more targeted selection?
I am not familair with the US catalogue, has anyone done a side by side on what is added and removed?
Just anecdotally:
They actually look pretty similar. The Australian one has a lot more good shows and movies than I expected.
A noticed a couple of things in the Aus one that aren't on the US one currently, like LOTR/Hobbits, and the Rocky movies (they came off the US one in Jan IIRC). But I noticed a few the US one has that Aus doesn't - like The Avengers (which comes and goes, though).
From what I've heard, the US always has a significantly bigger library than any of the other regions, but I expect the Aus deal will be good enough, especially since you can still use a cheap VPN/DNSredirect service to just get the US shows too if you really want.
Overall much better than I'd expected.
PS: The Stan free trial is great so far, it has Avatar (the TV show) and Misfits and a few others which are not on US Netflix. I'll be continuing it for a month or two more at least.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what movies/tv shows are available where. E.G. We get 12 Monkeys, 22 Jump Street but Canada and US don't. Canada gets 21 Jump Street though.
We don't get Star Trek and only Canada gets 24.

There's only one Netflix subscription. It just depends on where you call home.
Your Netflix account allows you to watch whatever Netflix content is available in the county (it thinks) your in. If you've got an Aussie Netflix subscription & you visit the UK you can watch Uk Netflix (but not Aussie netflix), if you move to Sweden, you get Swedish Netflix. If you have a global VPN/DNS service you get to pick which region you're in.
FWIW, it's cheaper to sign up to Canadian netflix. It's only ~$au9/mth for HD+2screens.
