Looking for good deal on 2 bay NAS - prefer Synology or Qnap

Looking for a good deal on a 2 bay NAS … with or without drives.

Prefer something quality like Qnap or Synology but dont want to upset the minister of war and finance too much.

    Do you want it to be able to handle media transcoding, or do you just want it for storage and backup?

    If the answer is yes, then a DS214Play will handle 1080p transcoding. http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/synology-ds214play-2-b…

    I've been wanting a DS214play but it's supposed to be due for an upgrade soonish. maybe you should consider waiting?

    I just bought a DS215J from istore.com.au for $245 and a 4TB green drive ( i know everyone says you should go red but i'm just using to store, backup and stream media).
    Doesn't handle transcoding but i just DLNA to my Samsung TV and it has played everything so far. I also have a Chromecast which i thought i'd need for the transcoding but I just haven't needed to use it.

    I already have a HTPC so this will be purely for data storage and backup.

    Looking for 2 bay so I can have 2 drives in RAID 1, hot swap not required.

    Ended up with a Synology DS214SE with 2xWD Red's for $380 all up … pretty happy with that.
