2K Games Weekend Sale on Steam up to 80% off Entire Catalogue

770

The 2K 10th Anniversary Publisher Sale includes games both new and old, although the deepest discounts are obviously on the stuff that's been around for awhile.

The XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack is down to $10,
Spec Ops: The Line is $5,
Sid Meier's Pirates! is $2, and
Duke Nukem Forever is $6—which is probably still too much.
Evolve is down to $50, and because it all started with sports,
NBA 2K15, now going for $20.

Prices are in USD

"Spec Ops The Line -80% $5.99 (the last fps you ever play)"

Because it's so bland that it makes you realise the FPS genre is dead.

      • +1

Even the single player part? It gets rave reviews on that, but the multiplayer aspect was supposed to be poor.

        • -3

It gets praised for its high school-tier philosophy, rather than its gameplay. I play games for fun rather than to roll my eyes at game developers trying to be "deep".

        • @joeflacco:
          Cheers

        • +4

@joeflacco: I disagree, thoroughly enjoyed playing through this game :)

        • -1

Feel free to give me negative votes, but it won't stop the game from being a generic 5 hour long console port with a dead and tacked on multiplayer.

        • +1

It is a game that succeeds largely on its storytelling rather than any gameplay innovation. This was actually the ninth spec ops game, and it was pretty much a mediocre churn and burn series up until that point.

I did enjoy the game but I paid only 5 bucks for it and I wouldn't have paid any more.

      • +6

Is it also so bland that it makes you think it's a FPS, when it's actually a 3rd person shooter?

        • -2

Apologies, the OP threw me off when he called it a FPS instead of a TPS

    • It's not an FPS, it's third person.

  • +11

Spec Ops is a steal at $6, it's an awesome game.

    • +5

Yep the single player of this was fantastic, well worth playing through.

  • all prices are US arent they ?

  • +3

Duke Nukem Forever is $6—which is probably still too much. LOL this comment. It works out to $1 per hour if you choose to finish this game.

  • +1

"Duke Nukem Forever is $6—which is probably still too much."

Up voted just on this comment alone. LOL

    • Yep, me too!
Duke Nukem Forever, at any price, is too much (unless we're talking Duke 3D Atomic Edition which was awesomesauce).

Maybe change the link to this

  • Minerva's Den is the only thing I want from 2k. It is not on sale. As usual. :(

    • If you own Bioshock 2 on steam Minerva's Den should be included (since sometime last year, I think. I didn't pay extra for mine). Check up on it.

      • Lots of people tell me they own it with out having ever purchased it. All I can find about this is it was given for free at the time of the GFWL purge for a limited time. It is not in my library, nor is it listed in the DLC tab for the game. Seems I missed out. :(

        • Boo :(

Yeah, I already had it in my library on the Glorious Day of Redemption From Gfwl.

Annoys me when they just seem to forget to discount the DLCs and complete editions for very old games. Every sale one AC: Brotherhood is like $5, but the complete edition is still fifty bucks or something…

    Found a deal within a deal - X:Com double pack - X:Com Enemy Unknown ($9.99) + The Bureau Xcom Declassified ($5.99) for a combined $8.49

  • I stopped buying games from Steam after i found out they charge us Aussies more for games than any other country.

    • +6

      only for some…

      www.steamprices.com

never buy a game without checking that site first…

    • +2

The price for the 2K 10th anniversary bundle is most expensive for us: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/63475/

Ours has a price of $74 USD, NZ has the next most expensive at $59 USD, then it drops down even further. We got screwed hard.

    • +1

Only massive deals are bought from steam itself anymore. The rest are via mobs like Greenman Gaming etc with 20% and higher discounts

    • +2

You can compare game prices - both current and historical - across several retailers incl Steam using:
      isthereanydeal.com
This site has options for Australian region / US region (and others) so you can compare if you wish.

    • Still better than consoles, retail, and almost every other download service. Where are you buying games?

    • +1

You should dislike 2K even more then, because they ordered Greenmangaming to hike up their games for Australians.

It is for this reason that Greenmangaming brought out a constantly running coupon system to bring the prices back down for Australians.

    • +1

FWIW, the publishers are the ones who determine pricing not Valve.

  • Evolve is down to $50

    Hmm… I'm seeing $59.99 and that's US…

  • +2

2K has recently restricted sales of its games on Amazon to US only. They've ramped up the checks and entering a US billing address doesn't cut it any more, you need a US credit card too it seems.

Makes this sale even more appealing.

    • 2K are a despicable company. Companies that engage in predatory pricing deserve to have their products pirated.

      • They shouldn't need to be since they have one of the biggest and most successful franchises of all time… Greedy.

  • Never played Civ V or any Civ games before, but I loved XCOM. Would be as good or better with similar gameplay?

    • Civ 5 Complete Edition is great, but Civ 5 isn't. It really needs the DLC and expansions to flesh it out.

It is nothing like X-Com. It is a strategy game, where you mold a civilisation from before humans could write to them launching space craft. You move units in war, but you do not control battles.

X-Com is all about the tactics with some strategy, Civ 5 is about strategy with some minor minor tactics.

      • So isn't tactics and strategy the same thing?

        • Not in this case. Very different.

Not to say you won't enjoy it…

        • Nah different gameplay. Civ is high level strategy (decisions you make which affect your plans for the entire game) with fairly simple board game-style combat. XCOM is tactical combat (moment-to-moment decisions reacting to what the enemy is doing).

If you like XCOM-style combat, consider picking up Wasteland 2? It's not as slick as XCOM, but the combat is similar and you have a fully fledged RPG behind it rather than a base-building game.

        • +1

Strategy is long term, such as running an Empire, where to spend resources, what units to invest in and diplomacy.

Tactics are used during a battle, how to use units at the right time, such as flanking, all offensive or defensive actions.

        • +1

@FabMan: mmk then. I do play other games like Starcraft 2 and Broodwar as well so I guess I would say thats tactics and strategy as well. Will have a look at Civ 5. $20 wont hurt I guess. But before I purchase, should I play Beyond Earth instead?

        • +1

          @spn:

Civ 5 Complete has been less then $10 before.

        • +1

          @spn:

Noooooooo, wait till expansions come out. Beyond Earth is incomplete… apparently.

  • +1
    • Civilisation Beyond Earth with 50% off is $44.99 USD, how is that even close to a deal? Bloody Steam.
    • oops nevermind

  • Why are the XCom bundles so stupid? Admittedly they've FINALLY bundled Enemy Unknown with its own friggin' DLC (Enemy Within), but they still don't have a bundle with all three including The Bureau… (yet they have Enemy Unknown + The Bureau).

  • del

  • 2k is expensive

  • Xcom Unknown Enemy Complete says $19.99 for me, not $10.

  • Maybe i'm slow but i just found this out while trying to have someone buy me a gift of beyond Earth outside Aussie from Singapore

"Gift purchases for (insert game here) can only be added to the gift recipient's library if they are in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand."

For civie 5 beyond Earth. Aussie price is 89.99 USD compared to 47.14USD (Singapore Store at 64.99SGD)

    • Yeah, you have to get an ROW copy. So pretty much, the US, Canada, Europe (excluding CIS), Japan and New Zealand.
