Given the size of the stores, the amount of customers at one time (lets say 30 people), each browsing for 20 minutes, I would guess that the shirts would be gone by 8pm!
that logic does not make sense? if it's a small store, and only a few browse around for at a time, and there are 1000 shirts, shouldn't it be available for quite a while?
it opens at 9 am. If 30 people can browse for 20 minutes, that would be 90 free shirts an hour right (3x30)??
So 1000shirts/90people an hour gives you 11 hours. 11hrs + 9am (opens) = 20:00 pm!@[Deactivated]: Except people likely won't need to be in there browsing. I'm sure half of them will be people grabbing a TShirt and leaving.
Not sure where the 20 mins figure comes from either. Unless you genuinely want something I'm sure people would be out of there a lot quicker. It is a shopping mall (looking quickly) as opposed to a stand alone store so they will get a lot of passer by's.
they'll go fairly quick I bet since they are in a major shopping hub. People walking past will pop in just to grab the shirt and walk on.
There's always huge line ups for new Apple stores. People camp out over night etc…but there are 1000, so if you get there by lunch time you should be OK.
Thanks, I just don't wanna line up :P
Hopefully it won't be tooo crowded…
Thanks. It'll make a good car wash rag :)
(…hehe, just kidding)Based on the Melb store openings they will go in the first two hours and there will be long lines beforehand (managed well though and didn't wait to long to get in). Most people hang around for 10min and realise nothing else is going to happen and leave. The t-shirts were XL (unusable for most) and boring black with small white lettering on them. For collectors and fans only.
Hey mate, would you mind posting a pic of the t-shirt? I'm keen on going but I just want to see if it's actually worth going at all as I stay an hour away by bus.
I posted on a previous opening here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/12850
My pic link no longer appears but the t-shirts will likely look like this in oversize XL:

Back: http://mactalk.com.au/decryption/trinkets/DSC_7400.jpgTheir stylish design doesn't extend to their t-shirts ;-)
I'm neither a collector or a fan and I lined up to get one (chadstone). Hey, I even wear it!
its more like free advertising on human billboards for Apple…
I stay at UQ so it'll take an hour to get to Chermside by bus :( Does anyone know how the t-shirts look like?
Any body ?
Do the shirts "sell out" quickly? Or are they usually available for a few hours?
