Do You Take Your Phone to Bed with You?

Just curious…

  • How many of you use a phone as your personal alarm court?
  • Do you have a habit waking in the middle of the night and using your phone, only to fall asleep 1 hour later?
  • On the weekends, how long does it take you and your phone to get out of bed, assuming you wake up, check your emails and do all the internet-related things?
  • Do you find you have a lack of sleep because of your phone, despite being in bed for 8 hours?
  • Has your phone affected your love life?

    1. No electronics in bed. Bed is for sleep, not for browsing the internet on (sleep hygiene issues). My Pebble smartwatch plays the role of smart alarm clock (it can also let me check for notifications, but I've set Do not disturb mode from midnight onwards.
    2. I used to have a bad habit of taking my tablet or laptop to bed to watch videos on, but even with F.lux it will still disrupt my sleep.
    3. I check my emails (but Ozbargain first!) typically after I make a cup of tea in the morning.. Not on the phone but usually on my PC (PC being in the bedroom and is always on or sleeping).
    4. Used to.
    5. If anything, my phone has intensified my love for Ozbargain. Can't live without checking it all the time.

Any more questions, dear ASIO officer?

Weak wifi signal in the bedroom prevents me browsing at night. I do read books stored on the phone in bed. Realistically I would read a lot less if the wifi reached, so I am not going to improve it.

    • That's what OzBargain sourced wifi repeaters are for…

  • what better way to spend time with your loved one in the bed other than both playing on their mobiles???

  • My 10 year old Nokia is my alarm clock. I swear this phone will survive a nuclear blast!
