Very basic router… the Xiaomi wireless AC dual band router goes for $26 USD, much better choice IMO. It also supports OpenWRt.

  • Austel approved no doubt. Any indication of what the power plug is?

    • It would be a110-240volt ac input with 12v DC output

I assume it would be illegal to connect this to the Australian telephone network. $10,000 fine. Ask ACMA.

    • please explain

      • -1

ACMA (previously Austel) must approve any device connecting to the PSTN. Failure to do so leaves you liable for a fine.

        • +3

But this does not have a pstn connection from what I can see.. It's a router with wifi

    • ACMA database has an entry for a different model Tenda router, lodged by Tenda Australia Pty Ltd. It is possible this has an A-tick, but no guarantees.

its a router, not a modem router

it has no provision to accept adsl by rj11 so it doesnt need to pass acma or austel etc.

        also 10/100

cheap router and n300 2x2 is good but its no better than the old Dlink Dir-615 which everyone has and has retired

It's a router not a modem router.. Any connection would be isolated by the actual modem…

        Doh, I'm an idiot.

The OP says "Modem Function YES"
      Sorry I was confused.
If it's not connected to the phone network then no problem.

      • Ah, that is why I thought it had a modem too.

how would you connect a router to a telephone network?

      • Via the WAN interface. RJ11 if it has a modem WIC, or ISDN with G.703 if it has a balun. Or serial if it is a DAR. Most routers were invented for the purpose of connecting to the phone network. It is only these low end consumer models that don't have that built in.

    Huh ???

    • yeah the specs are inaccurate

HOT Tenda N630 V2 Wireless WIFI Router 300Mbps 802.11 a/b/g/n/3/3u access signal booster for repeater/Computer

eg. is isnt 11a as it doesnt support 5ghz… also what the hell is 3/3u?

looking at the screen caps it looks like it has the std spi firewall all routers have

      • 3U is rack-mountable

        • its not 3ru, its barely 1ru tall (ie. 1 inch)

        • @tonyjzx:

going even from your own comment…. "the specs are inaccurate"

you asked "what the hell is 3u"

          som nam na

Didn't Elvis Presley sing a song about this router ???

  • Some of this Tenda gear contains the exact same hardware as the well regarded Billion brand.

  • Can you use this router as an extender? My current setup utilises a second router as an extender but i need to replace it.

    • Don't think so. Tomato and DDWRT won't run on this router.
