Where/Who to Go to from Here? Mobile Service Providers

Hello!

Just recieved an email from Vaya today about having me change my plan (and i've just paid for the $20 deposit!)

I am/was currently on the grandfathered Vaya $11/month plan.
Are there any other service providers who provide plans (less than $15/month)?

My needs (average per month)
- I make less than 3 calls
- Use about 100 texts (Heavy user of whatsapp and messenger)
- Use less than 500mb data (have wifi everywhere I go) 4G not necessary considering my location.

Would anyone kindly please direct me to the cheapest available service provider (based on my usage)?

*I'm in Tas by the way, if that affects anything and wielding a Nexus 5.

Thank you =)

EDIT : Have been doing some research. Pay as You Go seems to suit my usage; just that, I have no idea how it works.

Closest i know of is Boost mobiles new recharge offer that is starting 31st of march
    http://boost.com.au/$20-ultra-sim-prepaid-plan.aspx
100 minutes of calls Unlimited Text and 1gb data for 30 days and it's telstra so good reception.

    • A little out of budget I'm afraid. I've been looking at Amaysim's PAYG. Is that one good?

Amaysim is alright. I'm with Virgin $19 for 3 months and also have a family member with Amaysim. Internet is really spotty on his but I suspect it's the phone. No problem with mine but ymmv depending on location. (Only got Amaysim for them because for some reason, at the time, all the Virgin sims in-store were sold out, and I needed to port the number..go figure. D:)

The Virgin plan may suit your needs, though it includes only 100MB data. (Amaysim doesn't even include any, so..^^")

  • I got the same from lc but I was so sure my plan would have been fine for at least another year.

Why dont you just stay with Vaya? The same $11 plan has essentially just gone up $7 to become the PowerPlan 18 (V3), which basically is the same thing, only with unlimited SMS now. $18/mo is still most bang for buck than any other plan out there. (I'd be happy to be corrected here because I also got hit with this email)

    • I'd probably go with the PowerPlan 16 as a backup plan.
I hardly use my phone for phone purposes (calls, texts, data), because I've got wifi 24/7 and I'm in uni 8am-12am daily.
Hence, I'm essentially using my mobile for emergencies only*.

I appreciate the response. Thank you
