Is that cheaper than other insurance agencies?
in my experience insure and go are fantastic and have comparable coverage to other companies for significantly less money, at least with the gold plans
Read the comments in the previous deal…
After reading the comments in previous deals, I'm glad I am sticking to TID
not necessarily but perhaps or alternatively
Cool, saved $200 - thanks!
Was a good 30-40% cheaper than comparable agencies, before even considering Cashrewards.
Cheers OP.
I would be very careful and will be in purchasing this insurance.
Under their general terms the following is stated
We will not cover claims if you or any insured
person on your policy has in the last 5 years: suffered from or received medical advice, treatment or medication for:
- any heart related, blood circulatory or diabetic condition; or
- any neurological condition (including stroke, brain haemorrhage or epilepsy);
- any breathing condition;
- any psychiatric or psychological condition
(including anxiety or depression);
- had treatment or hospital tests for cancer in the
last five years; or
- been referred to or seen by a hospital doctor or
surgeon (other than an accident or emergency doctor), or needed inpatient treatment in hospital in the last 12 months.
This is not for related medical claims. As worded it means It's for ALL claims. Travel Delay by an airline which would have nothing to do with you having a skin lesion that was tested in a hospital for cancer, even if negative, is not under these words covered.
Or say a hernia operation in the past year, vasectomy or the plastic surgery you had on the last Thailand trip.
Now I understand if you had a heart condition which played up while travelling, this would prevent you claiming for medical or missed flights or bookings because of that condition, but non related incidents really. Like the theft of your wallet.
So READ the conditions very carefully in with this insurance, like all. But having used a number of companies, this is one is a little too exclusionary with the conditions for my liking.
**This is unless you have told InsureandGo Australia
about your condition and we have accepted it
**You must make sure that you tell InsureandGo Australia
about any change in your circumstances that happens
after the policy has been issued and before you travel.
We have the right to change the conditions of your
policy in line with the change of risk.
I would argue this is 'common policy' for insurance companies for obvious reasons
Actually these wordings are found in two parts.
Under health conditions in which case the unless clause is coved. AND under General Exclusions which does not have the unless clause attached to it.
I'll check other companies "common policy" as you say but in the past I have tended to read the conditions carefully (or so i thought) and I don't recall being concerned about similar conditions as relating to all claims vs just the medical claims.
Maybe others have some insights
If you are referring to 1.C) in General exclusions, it has the same statement under the heading 1., For which it is referring. Unless I'm missing something, but I have scanned over the PDS before purchasing.
GENERAL EXCLUSIONS
General exclusions apply to all sections of this policy.
We will not cover the following:
I do see that they require details of specific conditions to fulfill their requirements before they agree to cover you, which is why I think they are able to offer cheaper policies than other budget companies
@tko6070: Fair enough, and raising this is important for others to know about. So you must have them accept ANY condition otherwise you invalid ALL the insurance, vs others where you invalidate just the medical.
And the basis fairly strict.
Like the definition of medical "advice" could that be read as a doctor saying "no you don't have a heart condition" A bit overboard, but without being a medical person, you may just overlook that the "temporary" blood pressure result (high OR low) you got when say pregnant, is covered under this clause.
Now you may have to accept that ignorance is your fault, but how it affects all the policy and any partner under the policy for say, a travel delay isn't a risk so far that I would take. I had a policy with them last year which I didn't claim on, which now I realise was "invalid" as I had had a hernia operation requiring a night in hospital 11 months earlier.
BTW TID limits this according to my reading only to medical issues
If you have a pre-existing medical condition that is not covered, we will not pay any claims arising from, related to or associated with that condition. This means that you will have to pay for all costs related to that condition, such as: all medical expenses, which can be prohibitive in some countries; evacuation expenses; trip cancellation expenses; or any other related expenses.
As you say it's budget so you gets what you pay for.
I am not against this budget deal for others and it may suit them well. Hence no voting for or against the deal.
And thank you for the clarifications as you see them.
good point, I dont remember seeing all these conditions with my free Citibank insurance under Zurich, I will pass on this one for my trip to NZ
Going to japan in two weeks time, never been overseas before. Which cover should I go for? Gold or Essentials?
Thanks
the website has a comparison, how could we know what you need to be covered for?
does this cover rental car insurance (domestic) ? would save heaps if i dont take insurance from the rental companies i guess ?
comments ?
Just be careful with all insurance policies and research their complaints for unsuccessful claims. I'm having some trouble with QBE travel insurance at the moment for a missed flight connection (due to first flight being severely delayed from bad weather). I incurred additional expenses and rebooking costs which they are challenging, even though it falls within the PDS. However, the PDS is vague enough for them to interpret how they see fit, even though this is such a common and insurable event.
A pretty good deal = $26.41 for 'Bare Essentials' cover (Excluding USA etc) for a 2 week trip with double excess($200) 50 year old person. But having to tell them about all of my medical conditions dating back 5 years is a bit daunting for me.
In case this code ever fails, they have 2 other codes too 'holidays10' 10% off, and, for seniors, 'SENIORS15' 15% off.
the review on productreview is really bad, i would rather pay $100 more to direct insurance or southern cross insurance
While I have paid for insurance with Insureandgo I have never claimed. They were by far the cheapest after 20% discount for a short trip to Asia at the time.
However, for a long trip where US is included (e.g. 4 months) it may be cheaper to get SCTI vs insureandgo gold, who I have claimed with and generally review better (though may offer less on paper??). I was treated well during my claim but I did get some annoyed attitude from some SCTI lady before my trip for asking "what if" questions.
Good deal unless you can get Complimentary travel insurance on all these fancy credit cards Ozbargainers are applying for.
