for $3, those 500g tubs of icecream are hard to beat!

    • +4

So its $12 for 2L? That seems pretty expensive to me.

      • Find similar flavours of ice cream at a better price… Go ahead, I'll wait!

        • +1
          • Milk = $2 for 2L
          • Cream = $3 for 600ml
          • Peanut Butter = $2.84 for 500g
          • Sugar = $1

That'll get you more than 2 litres.

You've forgotten about GST, equipment, labour costs and packaging costs…

        • +6

          @Tal_Shiar:

          You've forgotten about GST

None of the items that happychappy1 listed have GST

        • +1

@Tal_Shiar: LOL… All that should be included in a commercial product, considering their economies of scale. Don't forget you're not consuming any mystery ingredients when you make your own.

You don't necessarily need specialist equipment to make it.

Better to wait for half price deals on Bulla Creamy Classics Choc Mint or the similar.

@happychappy1: You could of saved us some time if you just confessed you prefer cheap ice cream…

          @Tal_Shiar:

          you prefer cheap ice cream…

I've tried a couple of the Coles varieties, and they are not anything special…

        • @jv: if this is as you say, then my comment as it was stands too… Right?

        • +4

@Tal_Shiar: no offence but i love Bulla ice cream.

        • @jv: I didn't say they were anything special, I said for $3 they are hard to beat, if you wish to buy in bulk like happychappy, that is your decision..,

        • +2

@wtfnodeal: I will sleep better knowing this!

        • +1

@Tal_Shiar: i honestly think each of you have your point. Before the snowball effect it seems expensive like happychappy said but even milk, cream, sugar etc are not the 'raw' raw materials to make ice cream unless you milk your own cows etc. But after the snowball effect $3 seems hard to beat. It is just the world of capitalism.

        • +2

@jv: Try the Woolies Black forest flavor.

Could have, not could of (sorry, my pet hate).

          Don't forget that:

If you wish to make ice-cream from scratch, you must first invent the universe. :)

        • +4

          …and here's a universe that we've prepared earlier.

        • +3

Conniseur @ half price is better imo. @ $6 is a decent profit margin, even at $3 too i'd wager.

      • +1

        Try Ben and Jerry's. $12 for <500ml.

      • No, it's $3.00 for 500g.

Coles WA has the Magnum tubs for $4 atm. They're either 468 or 500ml (can't remember exactly) and have that "core" of superlative molten chocky goodness, it's like they hid a Macca's hot fudge sundae inside. Do yourself a favour.

$2 for 2L Coke is pretty good

    • Hell yeah, that's like 2007 good.

  • aw just had my cheat day :(

Please no more post on cheap but crap coles peanut ice cream. Bought one of these and not buying anymore even if its a dollar.

    • +2

But I love it. This post made my Monday morning happy. Woke up sad that I have to go to work, now I am happy that I can get some cheaper ice cream on my way home,

          rekt

    • Yep they are not good. And the peanuts are from China. Not a premium taste at all, but they are definately a premium price.

  • +4

Oh come on… I just stocked up on tuna from the $0.99 special…
The savings I missed out on! :(

    • +1

Ahhh. You can still buy more tuna.

    • +7

Are you making your own tuna ice cream?

    • its only the crap flavours anyway ^_^

  • +3

Seems like Coles have a lot of rubbish junk food items on Special at most times.

    • Non essential 'luxury goods' will always be the most heavily and frequently discounted items in any supermarket :)

  • +1

Don't mind if I get me some tuna.

  • Chips, chocolate, ice cream and coke what a meal deal.
