Nokia Lumia 530 (Telstra Prepaid) $49 at Big W (in store only)

40

Telstra Prepaid Lumia 530 for $49 at Big W, with the free orange case in box.

Saw this ad on mX today while on the train. No idea how many stores have stock, only an in-store deal.

Not as good as $39.50 at Woolies, but better than the $59 for the Optus-locked model at DSE.

Do be aware that unlocking these seems to be quite difficult.

However, you can wait 6 months and then use $25 out of Telstra Prepaid credit to unlock it…the half-price starter kits can be useful for that.

So they hiked the price by 10 bucks huh.

    • The $39.50 was at Woolies quite a while ago…I've seen it go around for $59 every now and then (DSE and Officeworks had the Optus one at $49 recently)…not the worst price for Telstra stock, but they are difficult to unlock according to other Ozbargainers' experiences.

      • I got one of these at Town Hall wollies for $39.5 on Tuesday. Ended up returning it, because it's too hard to unlock.

I think other woollies should still have them for $39.50

        • It was a special that finished yesterday.

Optus's can be unlocked with free of charge on optus website.
    It worked for me.

  • I bought one last time Woolworths had them for $39 - got it unlocked easily by bagman here on ozbargain. Think it cost $15 - search the site or forums and you'll find his details. Even with the $15 unlocking fee, it's a great little phone considering the price. Plus - full offline navigation with turn-by-turn.

    • bagman cant do it anymore

    • Bagman can't unlock these any more, neither Telstra nor Optus…

Other links to unlock them are either dodgy sites, or eBay sellers asking $20+

Member since Mar 6 2015. Enough said

  • Comes with $10 Cap Credit. It can't be CM2U or used on Google Play so activate on Simplicity for the most calls.

  • Work on boost?

    • AFAIK, no. Fine-print on ad says "Telstra mobiles will only work with a Telstra SIM card".

      I could be wrong though.

      • I asked at Telstra if I could use Aldi SIM in the Telstra phone with Telstra being the Aldi provider. Got told no.

My daughter purchased one late last year and uses Boost no problems

        I stand corrected

        Cheers

  • Looks like they are trying to copy OnePlus' "Never Settle" Motto

  • brought these back in nov for 39$. didn't get around asking bagman to unlock them before it was too late. i even try some dodgy site to unlock them with no help. fortunately i only need to wait until may to get teltra to unlock them for 25$ :(

You can perhaps buy a $30 Telstra starter kit when it is cheap, and then use the credit to pay for the unlock…works out cheaper than $25 in real money terms

try unlockmyfone.net i unlocked 2 and pay $24 each through paypal.

      • You can buy $30 Telstra starter kits for $15 when on special…

  • Yep they work with Boost. I got one for my son on the previous Big W deal just before Christmas.

i got one unlocked before the codes ran out but i tested it with ALdi mobile, it wont work on that one though :(

  • I was able to buy one for $39 @ Woolies Lower Templestowe. They still have some discounted phones such as Vodafone Samsung.
But couldn't get an unlock code for my Lumia 530 :(
