Anyone know of a cheap, small (less than 5L) slow cooker? Seems like it's impossible to find a slow cooker under $100 with good reviews. Seems like the more updated versions of slow cookers are worse than its predecessors. I've done a lot of research yet can't find anything worth spending the money on.

I bought mine from Target, it was just the cheap Target Essentials branded one but it works perfect. Slow cookers are not exactly advanced technology, its just a low heating element on a ceremic pot. Picked mine up for $30, cant find it on their website atm, however they have Sunbeams for $60. Could be worth looking instore.
I've got this one - it's good as you can put the pot insert on the stove for browning etc and then transfer straight into the slow cooker - less washing up and means it retains more flavour i guess. it's not too big either - there's only two of us so i made sure to get a smaller size one. The shape is good too. You can usually get it for $99 or less. I got mine from Myer i think.
The combo slow/pressure cooker from Breville is also very good. Slightly more expensive but worth it. I've seen it on sale for about $120 in the Breville factory outlets.
http://www.breville.com.au/cooking-appliances/pressure-cooke…I love my flavour maker too. It's great to sear the meat on the stove and then add your liquid to the pot which already has the flavours in it. Less washing up as well.
Have you thought about a pressure cooker?
It's like a slow cooker, but fast.
Lower energy use.
I love my pressure cooker.I made thisvegetarian briyani recipe in 20 minutes. It was really good.
I have this $20 stainless steel kmart slow cooker, like the poster above. It's cheap and does the job. Initially I wasn't sure if a slow cooker was right for me, so I got a cheap one to "gamble" with first. I found out that I don't use it often enough to warrant an expensive one, so luckily I got a cheap one.
http://www.kmart.com.au/product/homemaker-5-litre-stainless-…we have a basic Breville from years ago, works well.
I think if I bought another it could be this one http://www.breville.com.au/the-multi-chef-tm-brc600.htmlThanks for all the responses. I was never really considering a pressure cooker but after doing some more research, seems like it'll cook the food in a fraction of the time. Thanks for all the suggestions but I might try looking towards a pressure cooker now as there seems to be some great reviews for some of them for a cheaper price.
We have the teal minut cooker which was about $110. It's our first one but is super convenient and works well for our needs =)
What would be the advantages of getting a slow-cooker over a pressure cooker? We have a pressure cooker and we love it.
I can recommend myself; I'm a slow cooker and it takes me hours to make a meal, but it tastes great. Just kidding.
lol
Are you under $100 though?
+++ electric pressure cooker
I us the $69 Aldi (iirc). Was a big slow cooker advocate- used every week - now collecting dust!
Electric automatic pressure cooker rolls over into slow cook mode - does the silver side just magnificently. Plus keeps the cooking smell contained. 30min at pressure then roll over to slow for a few hours.
Same with stews etc. Beef cheeks tender as…. In 30 minutes.
Bye bye slow cooker!!
how long ago did you buy your pressure cooker from Aldi? Is it still available? I've been looking for a decent one under <$100 as all the major brand ones e.g. Breville have really bad reviews. At the moment I'm just using a stone non-stick pan ( i hope that's what its called lol)
Sorry haven't seen it for a while - obtained last year. It's one of those items that does keep coming back. It's the Aldi way :-)
you should slow cooker of crock-pot , you can refer here for more info about this slow cooker kitchenviews.net
We got a $20 Kmart 5 litre one (Homemaker brand) and it works quite well for what we use it for (mainly stews/casseroles, although we did corned beef in it the other day and we're still eating it a few days later :D)
