Also more useful if you prefer half decent service as opposed to Qantas' rude cabin crew.
"Not my job" attitude from Qantas cabin crew on my last Qantas flight.
LOL
Why is Qantas bashing always the in thing to do? I have never encountered this type of service on any Qantas flight.
Be sure to come join us when you do!
I agree. About 10 years ago I took Qantas a few times and their service was atrocious. I avoided them for a very long time until a few flights at xmas and I was really impressed with their service then.
Pretty much most salesmen attitudes in Australia. Rarely will you find good customer service in majority of Australian retail shops. The general attitude stinks, it's like you're an inconvenience to them for asking questions and needing help on THEIR products/services.
Elderly couple had problems getting carry-on baggage into overhead compartment. Elderly man asked a male cabin crew to help put it up to which he answered "I'm not supposed to help you. What happens if I injure myself while doing that? I won't be able to work the flight which means I don't get paid." I'm paraphrasing a bit but that was the type of response he gave.
Because the last Qantas long haul flight I took had a full complement of grumpy middle aged men as cabin crew who were more interested in discussing their weekend plans than even making eye contact with the passengers. I try and avoid Qantas whenever I can because of this and other poor service incidents on their flights.
@Flying Ace: THIS! Why are there so many middle-aged men working the cabins?
I got this too, i asked this old geezer 3 times very politely for a beer only for him to keep telling me how busy he was and that he'll get to me when he gets to me.
It's worth also noting that Emirates will commence Dubai to Bali (Indonesia) flights from June this year. They may have sale fares, so combined with a cheap lowcost fare from Australia, could be a cheap option. Keep an eye out i guess.

Emirates from anywhere is never cheap…but we'll see when they start operating to DPS.
Not true, I've flown Emirates many times because they were often the cheapest.
dupe but much better airline
Unless you're flying business or first there is little difference. In fact, Qantas interntaional economy in my opinion is suprier.
I don't understand how it can be called a dupe by two people when its a different airline. I mainly check this site for travel deals and don't like these posts because it may decrease the overall travel deals (hinder people from posting as its 'similar' deal to another airline)
a deal that says syd>sng 299 is so different so this deal IMO … full service airline BKK RT (Ive never flown with emirates but want to as heard its ridiculously good) from sydney for ~600 bux is awesome
because codeshare,
EK QF share, so if you book on QF you may get EK and like wise the same with EK and get QF
10 across in 777-300 economy on emirates is not going to be very comfortable.
Anyone for the +-$500 first class suite BKK -> HK?
practically a dupe of the qantas deal posted early today:

useful if you collect Emirates Skywards as opposed to QFFs
bear in mind that a lot of the discounted Emirates flights are actually codeshare on Qantas metal.
