Hey guys,

A close mate of mine recently told me how he's been struggling with hydrocodone after he was prescribed it for his knee surgery and he didn't want it to get out of hand and I promised him that I would keep him in check and watch him closely.

Was diggin around the internet for resources and information (including someone to refer him to as I'm not an expert on this stuff) and found this book on Amazon which is #1 for "Drug Dependency" and "Substance Abuse" in the kindle categories. The book was a really good and quick read and summarized pretty much 10 hours of intense googling time into one book so I thought it was a good deal.

It's currently free but I'm not sure for how much longer, it's normally priced at $4.97.

ive been looking for a book like this to help me with my OZBARGAIN addiction

    • I recovered from my addiction with the pull plug procedure, but the 3G enabled me again…
I'll leave it in the hand of the gMods to help fight the 3am cravings

Haven't read the book but please be aware there is a public funded health service for those interested in reducing/managing the symptoms of withdrawal, so they can get on with their lives. It is a confidential service that integrates, addiction specialists, psychologists, psychiatrists. All free of charge and totally CONFIDENTIAL!. Importantly what you tell them will not be generally disclosed to the cops. It is called the Alcohol Tobacco and other drug Service. Deals with both legal and illicits management.

    • Great note, my mate actually got in contact with them and said his first chat with them was really good. They've scheduled him in for regular consults

      • Thank you. The biggest problem is that people are not aware of the symptoms of withdrawal/ also affecting the lives/work. Headache, insomnia, muscle cramps, diarrhoea, anxiety, hot/cold flushes, mood swings….All can be managed medically. Used to work in one of these centres and found it really good.

Wow - must have been on drugs when they wrote this - A full 25 PAGES long.

No need to be concerned that this might be addictive, you'll finish the book in 10 minutes flat.

Its a booklet NOT a book

You can get more info from a website with having to waste time on this ripoff of web blogs

        Reason's are also discussed here.

I think the main point of it only being 25 pages is if you could imagine being a full blown addict. I'm not sure if that person would actually sit down and read through 50-100+ pages of this stuff when they're itching for the next hit (and iirc only 10% of people actually finish reading a book)

I was skeptical at the length myself as well so I quickly skimmed it and found it actually summarized quite succinctly a lot of the web posts/articles/government sites I browsed into just 25 pages and included things that I hadn't come across in my research

        • @humanpiranha:

Fair enough but the "normal price" set a few weeks ago equates to 20c a page $5 for 25 pages.

          That's a joke

I don't understand why anyone would want to give up happy pills like narcotics or ADHD drugs such as ritalin, dexamphetamine or adderall.

Try, incorrect focus on singular items and not seeing real/complete world. Money costs, Dr and pills. Becoming more and more more dependent is dex. Having to have authorisation in car and wallet if pulled over or up by blue flashing light peopals
