What's this junk looking things used for?

    • Hi Peanut money, google FPV flying and take a look!

        Hmmm
        Pretty impressive

No idea, but it's cheap, so I'm buying one!

      • No idea either, I'll buy one too. No idea why.

  • what is shipping worth on these things? The reason I ask is hobbyking have them for $358 and aren't calling it "March Mayhem"

    • Hi Jobler, cheaper than shipping from overseas!

  • just read an article says it won't work with newer DJI phantom as both use 5.8Ghz transmitter

    • Hi Garyl059, DJI use a 5.8Ghz transmitter which is exactly why these goggles WILL work with the phantom.

just a reminder, they are illegal to use if you don't have a license…

It says for money or economic gain.

"At the moment drones for commercial use by police, fire services, aerial photographers and in some agricultural settings are regulated by CASA. Commercial users – there are 180 in Australia, a jump on only 34 in 2013 – need a licence. But recreational users do not."

          Did you read that page?

Your own link has "As at 11 December 2014 it is illegal to fly ANY Drone for commercial gain WITHOUT certification."

          Commercial gain.

      • flying solely by FPV is illegal without license apparently

        • Apparently by who? Provide a concrete source please or you are just passing heresay.

Came here to see the jokes on 'Predator' and 'Fat Shark' and was left empty

  • Would these work on cheerson cx20

    • +1

Yes, I have a home-made system on a CX-20 that's virtually identical. You just need to mount the camera and transmitter on the CX-20 and power it.

Bear in mind that the rubber-ducky antennas that come with these kits are pretty poor, so you should expect no better than 2-300m range. This can be improved to ~1km with relatively cheap CP antennas.

Actually the dipole antennas have better range than CP antennas:

However dipoles don't deal with rotation of the craft as well as CPs. They're great to start out with though.

        • "Actually the dipole antennas have better range than CP antennas"

          In perfect conditions, perhaps.

In conditions where the aircraft is tilting and turning, or the goggles are moving around (ie most of the time) I've found dipole antennas to be very unreliable.

I guess dipoles on a quadcopter work better than on fixed-wing aircraft since there's less banking etc, but there's a reason pretty much everyone uses CP antennas.

        • @klaw81:

Hi klaw81 we don't disagree, the CP (Circularly Polarised) antennas can deliver a better quality picture as they have less gain and can tolerate pitch/roll better.

This kit is tailored to the customer who is just starting out and just wants the basic setup to fly straight away, at a really great price!

There are plenty of options to further upgrade this kit and any of our products at onequad.com.au!
