There is free software that will unlock most Samsung mobiles simply; and using only the USB cable provided with the phone!
I used it on my old D520, worked a treat! Now, IIRC it was called something like eBox…but don't quote me on that, google is your friend! ;)

@inherentchoice: Yep, that does look promising. If it doesn't do any good, there are bucketloads of codes out there that work on various Samsung models that are worth a try too…some of these have worked for me in the past! ;)

Well I'm aware that a sim card attachment should work, but I was hoping for free a solution that doesn't need such an external device.

Officeoworks have these phones for $29. Make sure they check the price as on the shelf some of them still show thje $59 but when they scan them they come up as 29.
They have $10 included credit sim card plus a $30 telstra pre paid card attached to the box "offcieworks Artarmon".
Can someone help me to unlock it please? even if I have to pay a little bit I don't mind. I was suppoes to give this to the MIL but spent hours on the net with not much results.

I have a raincheck for two of these at my local Coles, but I am only going to get them if I can find a way to unlock them without giving the scabs at Tel$tra a cent.
I have hated Telstra ever since they charged me $200 to install a fresh line when I transferred a lease from a mate in the 80's, pre-competition days.
