The Mi Band is water resistant, but not waterproof.
I bought it from this vendor on a previous but similar deal.
It has been fine both daily in the shower AND 15 minutes swimming in a hotel pool this week.. đŸ˜€
It's waterproof enough for light use!
No need to remove in the shower - I've had mine for 1 month now and shower twice daily with mii band on. No problems.

I have swam many times for over an hour each time (chlorinated pool) and showered every day for the last 3 months with no issues.
Maintenance of MI band :
1.To keep away from the vapor
Please do take care of keeping away from the vapor .Do not wear MI band when take a shower with hot water or having SPA because vapor is the enemy of MI band .Although the waterproof rating for mi band is IP67,the vapor will dip into the MI band and cause some problems.
2.To dry the MI band in passing
When you are washing hands,MI band is wet and if the water stay in the miband for a long time,MI band will be damaged after a long time soaked with water .The waterproof rating for MI band is IP67 is true,but it will get damaged after a long time soaked with water. Of course,it’s better to take off your MI band when swimming.
3.To charge the MI band in time and do not charge it after battery is empty.
We advice that customers charge the miband when the battery is 30% left and do not charge it when the battery is empty
I got mine on the 11th of Feb from a previous deal. Charged it up the day I got it. Just checked the battery then, it's 36% still. and that's with using the hacked app that lets it flash leds when your phone gets a notification. Best fitness band I ever bought (although I've only bought 2…)
I don't recommended buying from tinydeal.com - I purchased the xiaomi power bank and it would almost 4 weeks to get to get to me… pay a little extra elsewhere for convenience.

These are truly awesome but yes it only supports KitKat 4.4+ and also your phone must support Low Energy Bluetooth.
I purchased one for myself and for my partner but her Nexus Galaxy was not compatible so ended up buying her a new phone (MotoG 2nd Gen) just so she could use it.

Could have rooted and installed a rom. Can't remember if nexus had BLE but needed custom kernel or something
pity they don't have some sort of linux app that you could use with a bluetooth dongle.
I'm a bit dubious about the 'simplified packaging". The box mine came in (from banggood) was a sturdy, classy little cardboard cube with magnetic flaps. The one in this deal is a cruddy standard fold up. Which makes me suspect that these are returns/refurbs. Not having much confidence in Tinydeal in general (I have a spam folder full of their promo emails despite many times clicking the "unsubscribe" link in them), I wouldn't buy this from them.
Yes, the original box is a quality designed item (Apple like).
I'd say your thoughts are a little pessimistic. Maybe the new packaging is just a cheaper postage alternative to the larger, heavier box? Also would that many customers return a USD$13 item? Unless there is someone out there who can state they received a dodgy item, I'd be prepared to flip $20 on this - its an amazing device for the price.

Yes the banggood box was a larger box but both of my orders from each vendor had the same contents.

Be aware that most coloured bands on sale will be aftermarket rather than Xiaomi made bands.
My orange band from tinydeal is slightly different but you wouldn't notice unless you compare them side by side.
