Anyone is able to signup for a free icloud.com account and use iCloud versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote for free! An apple device is not required when you signup for an iCloud account and you get 1GB free online storage.
Note: This is already free for apple users, but now free for all to use.
Nice but FYI you must accept upgrading to iCloud Drive where you will no longer be able to access documents from iOS 7 or OS X Mavericks. Instead you will need iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite.
