OzBargain Dec 2014 Post Comparing Samsung Galaxy Tab S and Samsung Note Tablets

Hello,

I thought I bookmarked a posting ~ 10 Dec 2014 where there was a comparison of Samsung tablets.
Google and ozbargain search have not been my friend for ~ 1.5 hours :(

Thanks for any help.

From what I remember, S is the better choice as it has better specs, but if you really need the stylus then note is the way to go.

    • Thanks for that review, but an ozbargainer posted his review, early December.
      Thanks

  • What do you need to know about Samsung tab line?
I probably can write about it if you give me what you want to know.

    • Thanks AznMitch.
My main use for an Android tablet other than browsing, … was to control cameras: Canon DSLR and GoPro Hero 3.
I wanted largest screen size and the best picture quality but ProjectZero brought up the stylus. Often, it is my fumbled-fingered husband will be using the tablet to set up the gopro in the bush for bird photography, so maybe I need to consider the option of a stylus.

Yesterday, I was comparing pricing for the Tab S, but I think I might be best if I can get to a shop to look and feel with the different models.

I'd appreciate any comments re using tablet for photographic work.

      Thanks again AznMitch.

      • If you want solely look at Samsung line, Tab S is their premium line without pen/stylus. When I say pen, I mean stylus that has pressure sensitivity and palm rejection when pen is in use (if you don't need those, there are stylus that acts like your finger that would work just fine). It uses AMOLED screen, which some people think is too saturated in terms of colour, but I've heard that it has one of the highest colour accuracy in tablet line.

Galaxy Tab line was the budget line with low res screen and such.

Galaxy TabPro line is also a decent tablet line. Basically, it's also has high resolution, has CPU with decent processing power etc. Not sure about the colour gamut but basically, TabPro would also be a decent choice if you don't want to go for a budget tablet and don't like AMOLED. It has relatively high performance (well on par with Tab S I believe).

If you want to look at note line, I think the only one that'd be worth your time at the moment would be Note 10.1 2014, which is basically TabPro with 3GB RAM with wacom stylus.

I'd wait till MWC (tomorrow) at the very least though, I've heard several rumours that new tablet lines will be released. i.e. Tab S 2, new Note tablets etc. I've heard several interesting rumours about Note Tablets, but they are just rumours.

Anyways about the colour accuracy and stuff, I've used Displaymate website as a reference.

Also, if we look over Samsung tablets, I think there might be better options, but I've talked everything from Samsung tablet perspective, i.e. didn't bring anything other than that in.

        • Many thanks AznMitch.
I had thought Samsung had the best resolution, hence my bias towards Samsung.

          Much appreciated
          :)

  • +1

I just got my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 from Optus, very nice screen and very zippy compare to my aging iPad mini.
