With the disastrous 2014 (Titanfall, Watchdogs) and now 2015 (The Order 1886), I personally will not be preordering any game until its been through the review cycle.

Unconditional support for a product which you've never played and not knowing whether it will live up to expectations…no thanks.

It's not really "unconditional support", you just place down $10 on the pre-order then wait for the reviews. If the reviews are bad then cancel the game and get the $10 back.

… and it's From Software. It's not going to be bad. I sunk probably almost a hundred hours into Demons Souls and loved it.

Can't speak of Titanfall since I didn't pay any attention to it in the leadup to release but it was clear months before Watchdogs and The Order 1886 came out that they weren't going to be much good. I've yet to play a Souls game that I couldn't put hundreds of hours into.

    • LittleBigPlanet 3 sucked as well.

How did it suck? It's the best LBP.

        • Apparently it has a lot of bugs which are yet to be patched.

        • I love LBP1 and LBP2.

LBP3 has a huge amount of bugs, but worse than that they voiced all the NPCs with the most annoying voices they could find and the most annoying dialogue they could write.

There's nothing wrong with preorders of certain games if you've done your research, if any game deserves a preorder its this one by far and then some, Bloodborne looks magnificent to say the least, spiritual successor of demon souls, made by From Software who are all class, this will be a game of the year nominee at the very least, plus this is the cheapest iv'e seen it not even ozgameshop are cheaper.

    • but look at those graphics!! WOWSERS!!!…

    remember…no preorders

      Unless it's a Nintendo product… Right? ;)

    • Totally agree in general around not pre-ordering anymore. Ass Creed taught everyone a lesson I think. But it's a souls game so this will be different of course (I tell myself to make it okay)

  • Nope. Not preordering from Dick Smith anymore.
Firstly LittleBigPlanet 3, and now The Order 1886. Both games they failed to have the game in stock on launch day in their two Morley stores near Perth. Rather humourous since they had a big sign out the front for The Order 1886 saying what the launch date was.

    • I've heard of these horror stories, must be so frustrating on launch day. I've not had any issues previously but that was the Melbourne CBD store. This will be my first time trying a new store… heres hoping they don't screw me.

  • Dick has had day 1 stock without fail in my case (Geelong). It's a refundable deposit - can't lose. I then sell games I either finish or don't care for a week later - gaming has never been cheaper.

edit - true story - I came across a $50 note in the carpark (was late night shopping) as I walked in to pick up the Order 1886. Felt like being a kid! :-D

  • Thanks for the heads up

Son is hanging out for this

  • Why does anyone pre-order games anyway? Its been a long time since a game I've wanted not be stocked in stores on launch day without needing a pre-order.

The only time I've pre-ordered is for a special edition of a game I'm keen on.

Bloodborne is from tested developers who have been making excellent games. They won't mess this up.

  • I'm going to preorder this game but not for that price. Hopefully it'll be near 50. There's a month before it's released anyway.

    • you will never ever get a new game near 50, at least not in Australia.

      • I don't preorder games often but I got infamous ss for 55, mh4u for 48.

  • +1

This is the most expensive pre order I've put down at Dick Smith. I've pre ordered maybe 6 - 7 titles and its always been 59 with the $10 off (Once even cheaper for Infamous SS I think it was). Granted this isn't as mainstream a game as past pre orders. Might hold off see whether a $60 release price is offered anywhere locally.

    • 60 dollar is nice, which is ideal for me. But for this, I could not find it cheaper anywhere else.

      • Yeah I have a feeling this won't drop below $70 unless target or big w drop the price on the first week & it doesn't seem like a title that they would be pushing to sell (Despite how awesome this game will be)

  • Offer not found

  • Is the deal finished? I thought it would run up until release.

  • hmm??

  • I went to dicksmith on George street Sydney CBD to collect this game just now but the game was not available yet. It's so terrible. Apparently others have experienced this before. Gotta think twice before preordering from dicksmith next time.
