There's more to setting up an SSD than a standard HDD, more considerations (trim, partition alignment, etc), and for the uninitiated it's not a bad idea to get a reasonably-priced program to help you get it right the first time. The value lies in getting the most performance possible from the item of most importance- the SSD.
