To those who (still) trust in the ebay system AND the honesty of their buyers, how many times have you been hit with "item not received"? Is it while posting item within Australia or posting overseas? Did you win a case in your favor even though item was lost?
Reason I asked is I've seen a lot of items where postage is $0.80, which means the item will be posted using regular envelope with one stamp. No tracking, no insurance. A bit risky. Yes, item may only cost less than $20 (for a Lego minifig for example), but still it is a loss to the seller if some dodgy person claims item was not received.
Apparently, signature on delivery is the only way of protecting a seller but is expensive to do for an item worth less than $20.
I always post items with a tracking number at the bare minimum, and require a signature if worth more than a few hundred dollars. I honestly cannot understand ebay sellers who send expensive items without tracking, and have the nerve to say that no responsibility is taken for items lost in the post. In this regard, I am glad that ebay sides with the buyer.
tl;dr Tracking number on items less than $200, Tracking + Signature on items more than $200, also take photos of parcel
