So sick of buying fruit marked as "fresh" only to find it ain't.
We bought some Fuji Apples today at the supermarket 100km away. They were marked "fresh". A little early, i thought, but they felt hard and good. Australian grown, of course.
We get them home.Crap! Floury, soggy crap.
Australian growers and producers ought to be ashamed of themselves.
We bought some Navel oranges from the USA as well. They were excellent.
Apples ain't Apples, Fresh ain't Fresh

They were fresh… when they picked them from the tree… 10 months ago.
Too hot right now for Aussie navel oranges.
Only crappy green skin Valencia's around right now.
Apples as stated by the previous poster sound like they are old cold storage stock from last season. This is what happens when consumers demand year round supply, quality suffers. Actual seasons for certain varietys can be very short.
Australian growers and producers ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Good to see that the Supermarkets escape any blame in this.
High wages here kills the chance of getting local produce.
Purchased Fresh Apples and Fresh Oranges online. Got oranges that are dry and has no sweetness whatever. The apples were green when I was after red. Yes, Woolies have that refund guarantee if produce ain't frsh but can't be bothered driving back to the store. Never order produce online.
You are way off on your fruit seasons as mentioned above, but also I have rarely had a good Fuji outside of the season too - they just don't keep.
American Navel oranges are far better than any Australian ones I have ever had.
then go buy overseas produce. like mixed frozen berries from china…
