  • Cursader Kings 2 is amazing. And it only took me 60 hours to understand the basics!

Free game for a week though, and I highly recommend for those who like in depth games.

    • Did it have the tutorial when you played it? I'm just over an hour in and quite overwhelmed. Having a lot of fun though!

Yeah it had the tutorial, but the tutorial… It teaches you how to 'play', but not what that actually means in CK2 lol. I would suggest you play as a count or a Duke for your first playthrough, because playing as a king can get overwhelming.

Ireland is the best place to start to understand how the game works, like de jure claims and alliances and such. If you start in Dublin, his father soon dies and you get a second nation as inheritance. It gets pretty breezy from there.

Then you get assassinated by your 1 year old son, who speaks in tongues and has chlamydia. BEST GAME, 10/10

      • This is a pretty good series on YouTube if you're new.

        • Also very long.

          @sween64:
Yep! But so is the learning curve :D

  • Only a 620MB download!

      Hey, thanks! :D

The CKII + DLC pack, and DLC-Only pack are also on sale at Nuuvem.
If you're a completionist like me, it may annoy you that the DLC list keeps expanding even after so long, so you haven't bought the "complete" game yet

Keen to give this game a try, looks like Medieval II Total War for the really-serious (hardcore) gamer

    • Link to CKII DLC search added to OP, thanks.

I've sunk more hours into this than anything else, I think!

This game and any game from Paradox has quite a learning curve but I can assure you getting over that learning curve is well worth it for every game Paradox puts out, if you are into strategy that is.

I strongly recommend that you check out youtube for a host of beginner tutorials and "lets play" videos, watch these and everytime a concept is explained, pause the video and do the same thing in game. I recommend Arumba's videos as a good start - Crusader Kings 2 Tutorial Series by Arumba

This game is brilliant, probably my favorite. The awesome thing is that there are some starts that are very easy to play and ideal for beginners (Ireland) and as you get better at the game you can then proceed to much more difficult starts.

Cannot recommend this game enough to strategy lovers.
