Which Myki to Buy?

Been on a 365 Day Myki Pass for $750 during concession uni life.

Just graduated and I need to go into the city 6 times a week, weekdays for work and Saturday for other stuff. Obviously there will be some days where I won't need to go out such as Public Holidays and when I decide to take a month holiday. But 365 days still seems the cheapest unless I travel less than 200 days in a year then I can go with Myki Money. (200 Full Fare Daily Myki Money is $1500)

Am I stuck into paying the 365 Day Full Fare Myki Pass for $1500? Or is there a cheaper alternative?

  • Don't think there's anything cheaper. You could get monthly passes if you don't want to fork out $1500 is one shot.

    • That's a great find !

Maybe relist as a deal - was last listed in 2012

    • Looks great but unfortunately it's not my best option since there's a delay to getting the discounted Myki Pass.

"The PTUA aims to place an order with PTV on the 10th of each month for all purchases for which we have received cleared payment by the 8th. Please note this rule will be rigidly applied – no order without full payment cleared.

New Myki cards are normally delivered to your address within 10 business days of PTV clearing the payment from the PTUA. If you already have a Commuter Club Myki, the new 365-day Pass are normally available for loading onto your existing card within four (4) business days of PTV clearing the payment from the PTUA."

So basically if I order this Myki now, I won't be receive it till 24th March or later (10 business days from 10th March). This means I will have to live off Myki Money for 3 weeks which is about $130 if I get a 28 day Myki Pass. Considering the Commuter Club Myki plus membership is only about $106 cheaper than a normal Myki, I don't think it is worth it for me.

      • yes but it carries onto the next year.
and next year you shouldn't have the problem as long as you schedule the next payment on time.

        • So isn't it better to buy next year's Myki early next year instead and pay for a regular Full Fare 365 Day Myki Pass at the end of this month? The only thing I'll save $30 on membership (well actually 2 year membership if $50 so…)

  • A motorcycle.

  • I am trying to purchase the 365 Day Myki Pass on iusepass.vic.gov.au. I am stuck now at the checkout page. It asked me for a photo that have to be 300 dpi, Images must be between 248x310 and 248x319 pixels. Try anything to make it works but unsuccessful. Can you tell me how to get pass this? And what kind of photo are they required for? Personal photo or what. The website give bad info and the people at customer service are helpless.
