Looking to replace my Note 3, but with what?

I just sold my Note 3 to a friend and need to replace it. Willing to pay upto $900 but would ideally like a stylus and dual sim.

I know I can get one of these http://www.t-dimension.com/revamp/index.php?main_page=advanc…

Just wondering if anyone knows whether there will be any issues with its compatibility here? My second sim doesn't need to be 4G.

And any other recommendations if I was willing to bypass the stylus and dual sim?

iphone isn't an option, and nexus 6 seems not worth buying instead of note 4 dual sim. I would flush the note 4 with cyanogenmod anyhow if bought.

Thanks.

  • If the below page can be believed there are no frequency bands that the Note 4 covers that are not also covered by the Note 4 Duo;
    http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/comparison/9d4e1337c

    • It doesn't list the SM-N910G which is the Australian model.

      • Good point!

    • OK, as pointed out by ozhunter this wasn't necessarily a valid comparison.

Comparing the frequencies for the SM-N910G from this page
      http://www.mobosdata.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4-sm-n910g

We see the duo has all except for the 4G LTE frequencies 700, 1700 & 1900

If we look at Whirlpool list of Australian frequencies
      http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_frequencies

We can see that of the 3 missing only the 700 band will matter

      4G

Australia is currently using these LTE bands (LTE bandmask in brackets):

700MHz (B28) FDD (0000000008000000) – Telstra, Optus (switched on early in a couple of cities, will be widespread in 2015)

      These others remain fine

2100MHz (B1) FDD (0000000000000001) – Telstra (a handful of sites), Optus (Darwin, Tasmania)
      1800MHz (B3) FDD (0000000000000004) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
850MHz (B5) FDD (000000??????????) – Vodafone (refarming 5Mhz of 3G to 4G across all metro areas, claiming by end of 2014)
2600MHz (B7) FDD (0000000000000040) – Optus, Telstra. (TPG have a license but have not announced plans for it.)
900MHz (B8) FDD (0000000000000080) – Telstra (a handful of sites, utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
      2300MHz (B40) TDD (0000008000000000) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum)

  • If you want a decent stylus that does palm rejection, I don't think there are any alternatives other than Galaxy Note line, because I think Wacom digitisers are only on Note line in smartphone category. I am happy to be proven wrong though.

On special. Note 4, only single SIM though.
