What Do You Guys Do on The Weekends?

Not sure if it is me or it is me?
Somehow the weekends just fly away so quickly.
After doing the lawn, washing the car and cleaning inside and outside, there is not much time left to relax.
is this normal ?
What are u guys doing on the weekends?

  • I normally work most Saturdays & during winter kids have footy on Sunday so not much time to relax but I wouldn't change it:)

  • Spread chores out across the week, yo. Do little things here and there that you can manage around work, so you don't end up with a massive To Do list to tackle on the weekend.

Do you have to wash the car and mow the lawn every weekend?

Do you have family members? Are they contributing to the house chores?

  • The kids do their fair bit.
There is also footy and other sports to attend on Saturdays etc
Good idea to start doing some stuff on weekday nights
But then again,we need time to help with homework etc

  • Check OzBargain
    Watch Footy
    Play Footy

After doing the lawn, washing the car and cleaning inside and outside

All things i avoid doing on the weekend or anytime
Lawn… only small slow growing 3 times a year (replace lawn with mulch)
Car… company lease replaced every nine months cleaned prior to return total time 3hrs (inside and out)
Cleaning inside and outside…i do not tolerate my wife doing this on weekends.
The way i see it is people are to obsessed about impressing other people than enjoying life.

Relax,Hike,Camp etc and spend quality time with my family and friends,

    • ^ This, is excellent.

"…The way i see it is people are to obsessed about impressing other people than enjoying life…" Well played, Sir. Well played.

It is about having self pride.
A well kept house is a reflection on what sort of person you are.
Also a stich in time saves nine.
As an example,if u do not clear the spider webs every week, they will become like something out of Scooby Doo !

    • I am confused as to what you want to get out of this thread after this comment?
Some people clean a lot, some don't.

      • If a well kept house is a reflection on me, I must appear to be somebody who has better things to do than housework!

It is about having self pride.

Or showing off your assets that you think are better than everyone else's on the street

A well kept house is a reflection on what sort of person you are.

If you think having the best house on the street makes you the best person think again some of your neighbours are out doing constructive things for your community, local youth or other worthwhile causes and do not have time to keep their lawn between 1-2cm's

Also a stich in time saves nine

      You clean your car every week i clean mine once every 9 months where is the saving? (tip keep your car outside the rain will wash it good enough}

As an example,if u do not clear the spider webs every week, they will become like something out of Scooby Doo !

Have you ever heard of surface sprays?

I am lazy as all get out when it comes to chores.
The lawn gets mowed when the youngest kids can no longer be seen when playing in it. My brother-in-law who keeps a spotless lawn weeps when he comes round.
The car gets a wash if it is seriously muddy/dusty after we go camping, if it doesn't rain, at very most 3 times a year (benefit of driving an old, beaten up car).
The kitchen gets cleaned daily, but everywhere else, only if we are having guests (so every couple of weeks, I suppose).
This weekend I went out to dinner with family, had a sleep in this morning, am on my way to a Stop CSG political forum, will take a kid to play roller derby, cook a BBQ for dinner and attempt to romance the spouse (breakfast in bed Valentines day was looked upon favourably). I made some awesome chicken meat balls with bacon, onion, sun-dried tomato and capsicum last night with some spaghetti, watched a couple of episodes of John Stewart then turned the telly off.
And have to fit in a few looks at OzBargain. Although note I didn't go to a shop, which saves a chunk of time.

  • I do most of my cleaning on a Friday night.
Over the course of the week and weekend I play AND umpire a corporate softball league, play and umpire beach volleyball. I mix in some running, swimming and cycling.

I tidy as I go during the week, but it still turns into a bit of a tip.

Friday is my rest day, so I do the majority of the chores after work. If I go out I'll do an hour or so on Sunday too.

    one simple rule…

put it back where you got it or how you found it after you use it… that will save you a bucket load of time.
