I am a qualified welfare worker who is working in the disability field. I have been offered a job as a disability support worker but I am a quite surprised by how little the pay is: $20.29 per hour
Does anyone know what is the correct award please? I have a diploma in community welfare and I'm being told that I need a cert 4 in disability. Shouldn't a diploma in more or less the same field and 2 years experience in disability trump getting a cert 4?

If I'm right, they are two different industries, therefore two different awards.
I'm now a qualified teacher, but I'm considering working as an integration aide. Much lower pay, and a different qualification is required, which I would have to undertake.
Unless there are a lot of similarities, you probably cannot request recognition of prior learning either. So I think you'd have to organise to do a further qualification if you want to change paths, even though there are some overlaps between the two.
