Dick Smith Click and Collect

Hi Guys,

Would anyone know what is DS policy when they don't have a product in particular store and when bought (Click and collect) online——the same store is selected, would they the arrange for the product to be delivered at that store or not or would they even let the transaction through because I have selected the store where there is no stock!

Their customer service is close today n tomorrow! Thanks

P.S Reason I need to do this is because I live in regional Victoria and the closed store with stock is 300k+

Call your store, they will tell you when store will become available

  • Funny enough..I checked with one of the local stores who gave me printed copies..saying that 3 other stores have that tv ..the one I am looking for but when I check online…guess what ..says sold out.dont know whats the deal with this.

  • Posted this recently but just a warning I ordered a Sony 60 inch TV online from DSE as C&C. Got the confirmation my order could be picked up same day but went in store about 10 days after to get it and was subsequently told that they only had a display model in stock. Got a full refund as I didn't want a display model when expecting a new product.

  • Hi Swanhill,

With click and collect, it shouldn't let you place an order instore unless that particular store you are selecting has stock on hand (IIRC had to have more than 2 for c&c, anything under would have an orange low stock warning.) If the store does not have stock and you are unable to c&c, I would suggest calling the store and asking if there is any way for them to get the stock to their store (At my store, myself and two of the other guys drop into other local stores to pickup stock and transfer it to our store as its much faster than stock request to distribution) I am unsure if this is commonplace throughout the business but its how we operate to make it easier for our customers.)

If they are able to arrange that, then you should be able to get them to pick one up, have it in the store for you and place it on hold. However not all stores can be as lenient with held items for customers and sometimes the attraction of a sale now vs a sale in a few days time would be too great. This would fall on managers discretion after a reasonable period of time the item has been held for, normally 48h give or take.

Once a c&c pops up on our registers, if there is ever any issue with stock being not new/returned/display, my understanding is that the person "picking" the order is NOT to confirm the order until they have contacted the customer and discussed the stock on hand issue and if there is a suitable replacement or store within range they can pick it up from.

If it says that there is no stock in the store, I would personally suggest to order through the online store as that would provide you with the quickest solution if there is none around.
