Free Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership (Save $89.50)

150
FAMILYFREE

I received an email from CBA:

============
Complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership.

Qantas is the official airline for the Australian Cricket Team and loves cricket as much as we do. For a limited time, as a CommBank Cricket Club member you can join Australia's favourite loyalty program without the usual fee, so you'll save $89.50.
But you'll have to hurry.

Offer available only until 28 February 2015.

It seems to be open to everyone, as per the requirements in the link, despite what the CBA email said.

    Woolworths have this offer

  • +11

    It's ALWAYS free

  • good scam to get new members when it keeps giving discounts for free membership I guess. you'll never have to pay to join

i won't neg becuse you are trying to contribute which is great, and someone might find it useful, but i'm with jv - it is always free, so not really a deal.

Get an everyday rewards card from woolworths , log in and it has a free sign up for frequent flyer all the time

  • This way you don't need a Woolies card … faster to get free Qf freq flyr membership … should take all of 1 min vs having to go through the Woolies hoops if you don't want to shop at Woolies or you need QF membership real fast.

it takes around 1 minute to sign up for an everyday rewards card - you log in and click the get FF number button

      Not that many hoops

      • Think if it as another option. Especially if you don't want to deal with Woolworths. Options are good to have.

  • Thanks OP, this was very useful for me. There have been a few times I thought of getting this membership but wouldn't pay for it. Can't be bothered going the ww route + I didn't know there was a way to get it through ww. Very timely as I am on a flight this weekend, thanks

  • Hi, I never fly Qantas since it's not usually the best price. I do however fly Jetstar somewhat regularly. I know when I book Jetstar tickets there's a section for Qantas FF number. Does this contribute to FF points? If so is it a significant amount? Ie how many flights equals a free flight?

Thanks in advance I can't find this info anywhere :)

    • You can only collect points on the more expensive fares (flexible etc) so if you're buying the cheapest fare then you don't get points.

      • Not correct. I've gotten points on their dirt cheap fares. It costs extra to do so, but it's bundled with the ability to change dates etc.

    • I booked 2 Jetstar flights a couple days ago for 6400 points each (plus $30 in fees per flight). They were MEL-ADL and ADL-MEL. I don't generally fly Jetstar a lot, but I don't think the basic flights give points (Starter I think the flights are called?). I believe you have to pay a bit more for the flights that give you FF points.

I get all my Qantas points through credit card purchases, as I actually prefer to fly Virgin in Australia. The only reason I use Qantas credit cards is I find their FF points more valuable when booking free US domestic flights with points (you can use Qantas points to book American Airlines flights for free at a very good rate).

      • Cool. Thx for the replies :)

  • good value
