I just found about 500 photo slides cleaning out from grandfather's garage and i want to get them digitsed.
So what would be the best/ cheapest way to get them digitised?
I live in Ryde, Sydney.
thanks

You will need a scanner with a slide copying attachment. Easy to do, search "how to copy slides" or similar…
As a bit of an aside, AFTER you've done the digitising yourself or had it done, I suggest making the entire collection easily 'accessible' on the net. Anything the "capturer" felt worthy of converting to a slide back in the day, was generally a pretty decent shot/image…
Obviously, store the full-resolution digital versions elsewhere/back them up, but you may wish to consider creating/uploading a YouTube 'video' of a slide-show of the shots, set to music (not a 'video' as such I s'pose), named after your grandfather.
What are the pics of by the way? What era/area do they depict? This will be a really fun project I reckon!
If DIY then get a decent scanner, might cost couple hundred, but can be ebayed after you're done.
Don't get a scanner that looks anything like this

They only feed the slides in an take a photo. The resulting images are mediocre at best.
Read some forums on the subject, there's even been some discussions on ozb previously.
Cheapest way would to be to do it yourself. The scanners aren't that dear and if you do it whilst watching the TV you'd get it done over a few nights.
