Written off Vehicle Inspection Centre Wait Times

Greetings all,

This will only interest a few people but the more voices that speak up the better.

I recently purchased a hail damaged vehicle in QLD. 3 Weeks ago i contacted http://www.wovi.com.au/ (Written off vehicle inspection.) I was informed someone would be in contact with me to arrange my car to be booked in for an inpsection. 3 weeks later (Today) they called me and informed me there is massive wait times. 5th of May was the earliest appointment.

It is in my opinion that hail damaged vehicles should not have to undergo an inspection. On top of this there is a $435 fee to have it inspected.

If anyone is interested please feel free to email the Department of Transport and Main Roads and let them know current policies need to be changed. http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Contact-us.aspx

I hope this can serve as a warning for anyone looking at purchasing a hail damaged vehicle in the coming auctions, which there are still plenty coming up.

Thanks

  • What car did you end up buying and for how much?

Probably not totally relevant, but a 2006 Honda Accord V6 Luxury.

$2600 + Fees, rego blah blah. About 5K all up.

      • Was just interested from your last thread.

Oh sweet no worries. Most cars seem to go for about half the price of what they would be selling for not hail damaged, after all costs. The best deals seem to be cars 2011 and earlier. Especially some with Low K's since a lot of that storm was in the city there is a lot of low km's older models.

My 2006 Honda had 75,000 on it.

  • I have a 10k+ car mild hail damage sitting uninsured in their public carpark, (cause you cant insure a unregistered vehicle),

website says 2 working days, they advised 3 when I dropped it off. we are now on day 5, or 7 if you include weekends.

And that carpark was partially underwater when I dropped it off, plus the cyclone on the east coast.

Online reviews indicate some vehicles are being vandalised in the carpark also

Would avoid this inspection station unless your taking in a shitb0x. The other ones apparently only take half a day.
