Any comp that requires liking / sharing on facebook / twitter etc is usually a scam.
An example would be the ones for free iPads or the Range Rover.
Worst still is the fact that the comp is for a smartphone that isnt even released yet…
If you went to the site that it's affiliated with, you'd realise that they're a huge american smartphone reviewing site with a long history. It's not one of those free-iPads-for-survey like sites; just a news site with enough money to throw around that they can afford competitions. $800 is worth it for the thousands of likes and shares that their community generate. Paid advertising with the same reach is quite expensive, has low clickthrough, and doesn't generate the kind of goodwill that this does.
TL;DR Check your facts before you cast doubt.
Edit: Oh and also, they did the exact same comp last year. Check the results.
