Perth Underground station has a technical issue and the Fare Gates have all been blocked off. PA announcement says that transit is free for everyone.

PA said that because we could not tag off in the city, that commuters would be reimbursed for the cost of the journey.
I have checked my Smartrider account and it does not show that I tagged on this morning (I know that I did).
So they let you travel without a valid ticket in WA ?

If the gates ever stuff up they always make it pay for a ticket if you don't have smart rider, if you have smart rider its free as I don't think every station has a working credit card / cash machine thus not everyone will be able to pay.
I think this will be the same when they get the paywave gateway setup on the smart rider gates.

Update, Perth underground (raine square exit) is still working but the lines are huge with less than the usual amount of smartrider exits and transperth ppls watching over everything

They had the same message when I got off at Esplande station this morning (about 6:45) - it was a network issue, not isolated to Perth Underground. Now hoping they actually refund any default fair they charge for not tagging off
Usually takes a week as did the last 2 times smart riders got overcharged with autopay enabled
I got charged the $10.20 default on the 12/2 - still haven't been credited it back more than a week later :/

I got hold of their Call Centre. Many (I assume Most) people still have not been reimbursed and they are still working on it.
Did you get reimbursed? Still hasn't come through for me.
So if I get on at Currambine, I won't have to tag on?
