Evolve Xbox One - $69 @ Big W

100

Was shopping around for the Evolve retail cheapest price, came across it in BIG W for $69, game was unmarked for price but appeared at $69 when they scanned it.

Game doesn't appear on their website.

PS4 copy would most likely be the same price too.

Ozgameshop has it for $68 but there's the big wait time for shipping there.

  • Add the Big W gift cards to use for that

  • mad game, I was on the beta list

  • Correct me if im wrong but this is basically a multiplayer game right, no story?

    • Pretty much, think of it as Left 4 Dead. How each character displays/talks about their backstory a little across the maps. And it is 4v1 multiplayer.

I had a look at the reviews. There just doesnt seem to be that much to it.

        Kill monster, rinse, repeat.

I will hold final judgement until I see some more info.

It does look fun but I can see this going the way of titanfall falling into the bargain bin early…..then i will ozbargain the sh*t out of it HAHAHA!

The reviews I watched made it look so damn boring. Definitely a pass for me. It'll be dead online within months.
Good price for a new release local game though. Would love to see it become the norm.

    • single player and campaign mode too

  • By most accounts this is a game best enjoyed ASAP, it's likely to go the way of Titanfall with too few populated servers later in the year when the price has reached the threshold of the seasoned ozbargainer.

Not sure I'd want to be playing with the kind of people that pay 69 for a single game. That's enough for like 10 humble bundles. Heck in a couple months we'll get 5 copies for this price then you can gift it to 4 other grateful friends.
edit:misread and thought this was on steam. By all means go buy the xbone version now, they don't get $5 games within months of release :P

Gonna wait on this one. I expect it to die pretty fast, don't see much longevity.

    • +2

Agreed, never been on my radar. I think it's the kinda game that will have a longer shelf life on steam.

      • -2

        like titanfall

        • -1

Titanfall has never been on Steam AFAIK.

        • @Where's_That_Cake:

I was talk about "I expect it to die pretty fast, don't see much longevity."

        • @aacheney: Oh, gotcha.

      • Hope so, be nice to have some consistent FPS games with a player base. I get over CS/TF2, need some variety.

    • +1

but if you wait and it dies fast, won't it be even more of a waste of money?

      • No because I wouldn't have purchased it?

  • one of the best games ive ever played,i think it will become as popular as L4D did

    • The release disagrees with you. Steam reviews are mixed at current moment, with 67% positive. A LOT of people are saying that this $80 game has an additional $60 of on-disc paywall content. You need to buy an additional monster ($15) and 2 extra classes ($7.50 each), and what you actual get in the original edition is repetitive and not as expansive as you'd expect from a game of this calibre and price. This game is, unfortunately, going to end up in the same bin as Titanfall if they don't fix their pricing now. Evolve's price of $7.50 per character is worse than League of Legends, and that game is free.

"AAA" games are ruining videogames, by charging more money for less content. In order to justify all this DLC paywall crap, the CEO said that "There wouldn't be DLC if gamers would just pay $120 for Evolve". Alas, they're not, so you can easily spend $200 on this game if you want all the things.

Just FYI, that article/quote is satire.

        • :( So it is. Point still stands though, it's still crappy business behaviour lol.

If it's one of the best games you've ever played, I'm curious as to what the other two games you've played in your lifetime are.

      • i own over 100 games on steam and people shouldnt judge a game until they have played it.

    • L4D/L4D2 had a lot of free additional content - apparently the opposite of the full-priced DLC vending machine that Evolve appears to be.

  • Anyone else confirmed this price?

Going to visit Big W on the way home from work.

  • Just to give you peeps a heads up. Big W advertised @ $79 and it scanned that same price as well.

Still picked up my copy as everywhere else was selling for $89.
