Portable Washing Machine at Aldi Starts 14 Feb $39.99

50

Looks like the Companion Ezywash or very similar

Most of these little hand operated washing machines retail for around the $80 mark so that makes this one quite a good price.

If you want to spend a little more and would like a portable powered option I would go for this which comes recommended by a friend of mine who closely resembles Malcolm Douglas - proof enough that you should buy it…

"…so that makes this one quite a good price."

But you haven't put the price in your post?

Edit: NM - it was included after I wrote this

Well, knock me down and steal muh teeth! No more washing muh potatoes sacks in the river when I've got to go to muh sisters wedding. They expect the groom to look classy!

    Perfect valentines day present

    • too expensive and I don't want to be seen as over-doing it after I purchased the Fashion Necklace, "Trust No Bitch" from here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/182026

    • Did anyone else think it looks like a gas tank?

  • Never seen anything like this before. But I'm guessing this is a good option for emergency mid-week washes of small loads? I always have a lot of socks or gym wear that needs to be washed that I can't justify turning the washing machine on for.

    • buy more socks or gym wear

      • Have plenty, enough for a different set everyday for a fortnight. But adding it all together barely adds up to an armful of clothes. Still not much mass to fill the washing machine.

        • yeh my point was to have enough gym wear so you can accumulate dirty clothes till you have enough to "justify" washing them

        • lol yeah have tried going down that path. I think I'd need to accumulate like 3 months of dirty light-wear before the 5kg machine is full. Wouldn't want that hanging around the house for so long. I usually hand wash separate or do mixed loads with all my nice clothes instead, but neither of those options are that ideal. This portable machine thing might be useful for singling out those small loads.

        • @Uncharted: I don't get it you only wash your socks? What about your other clothes just recycle?

        • @figarow: Am saying I do mixed loads but prefer not to. In an ideal world with free unlimited water, electricity and time I'd prefer to separate the lighter stinky stuff (gym wear, socks) from the rest. Particularly delicates (lingerie, dresses, work shirts). But usually I mix everything and just use the 'economy cotton mode' on the machine which treats everything the same. I get the feeling the delicates end up coming out more scratchy, faded, and having lightly absorbed the crap from the gym wear. While the gym wear doesn't feel like it has come out as clean.

I get the feeling the males commenting here are fine with just chucking all clothes in the same wash load. (…hm, this is ozbargain afterall.)

        • @Uncharted: Oh I see. We just wash everything together no time for anything else around here… everything feels scratchy :-P

3 months is an armful of clothes?

Try wearing more than a g-string when you exercise. Unless you're doing pole dancing classes, in which case fair enough ;)

@justtoreply: lol I said a fortnight of light (gym wear) clothes is an armful. And 3 months is a machine full (8.5kg wash/4.5kg dry frontloader). Those are estimates, I've never actually left out 3 months worth of gymwear lying around. And I dress rather normal for physical activity - tank/old shirt and bike shorts/leggings.

Yeesh this reply is getting long-winded.

FYI when I have the chance would prefer to wash underwear separate from most other clothes. Mixing underwear with other clothes that pick up all kinds of stains and bacteria is a bit foul for me. Which is where this little portable washing machine may come in handy.

Here's a vid of someone using it.

    • Just me or does that seem like an irritating one sided review? Looks like a painful way to wash 3 items of clothing.

If you're travelling on rough roads particularly you only need a sealable drum - but you might not find a solid one for this price anyhow. The vehicle will do the agitation.

Think this could double up as a cement mixer?

    • +1

Or u could double ur cement mixer as a washing machine

      • Cement mixer is 10x more expensive =P

        • If u already have one ur saving $40

        • @CandyMan:

Nope don't have one sadly… Last time someone knocked over my mailbox had to mix cement in a bucket with a broomstick. Got halfway, the cement dried and the broomstick got stuck :(

This would've saved me a lot of time (provided it does work as a cement mixer)

  • Salad mixer device!
