ello internet provider

OK so I live in an area where no company I called could offer me any broadband at all. NBN is set to come this year, but now I'm forced to use super expensive mobile broadband.

So back to the topic at hand – does anyone know anything abbout ello?

I have just seen the ad on TV and went on their website, typed my address in and – surprise – they claim to offer broadband!

Their website is

http://www.ello.com.au/

And Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/ElloAustralia

In condition of service they state this:

Service Description
ello aims to provide all of our customers with an ADSL2+ connection however if ADSL2+ is not available at your
location, ello will o!er ADSL 1.

Could this be what they can offer me? And if so, what would my speed be?

Thanks.

That is not a 100 percent guarantee that you can even get ADSL1. Just that they 'aim to give you ADSL2 but in circumstances where
ADSL2 isn't available, ADSL1 is what we can provide". Your ADSL speeds can vary depending on a large number of factors. Cable distance, equipment, state of the copper wiring. And so on.

If you live in an area where there is no remaining ADSL2 ports and if there is no RIM available to give you even ADSL1, then you're out of luck, and would have to use 4G broadband. What kind of reply did you get from the telcos when you applied for an ADSL connection?

What does the coverage map say? (NB this coverage map does not provide live data and can only provide a guide or a rough idea, treat the information given by it as inaccurate)

  • The response I usually get is 'too far from the exchange'. Although its only 5km actual length and I do know that previous owners had ADSL.

    • If you talk to Telstra directly you might see how they respond to that. However, if they say "policy change" you're probably stuffed.
