  • Always thought this was a nifty looking phone. Anyone have any opinions on it?

    • I have this and love it. Never had a call quality issue, drop out of crash, just works perfectly.

The handset sits on its base 24/7 and I only use my mobile now. Perfect as I always found cordless phone due after a year or two, this way it's redundant.

      Can't recommend enough.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Is there any problem with the headset volume when you've used it? I saw a few people state that it's a little low even if it's on the highest setting.

        • Not for me, and with 2 kids we have a lot of background noise.

  • Go to officeworks they will price match and 5% off

  • Few weeks ago it was $109.95 at DSE before it bumped back to RRP.
and DSE had the $20 off for over $99 back then, making it $89.95 the lowest in the past.

  • Just bought one… thanks op :)

  • Can this be used away from home, for example if I was out shopping and I received a phone call at home, would the smartphone app allow me to answer that call ?

    • Unfortunately not.
      But has got TAM:
"Advanced TAM : calls a pre-set external line to forward any voice mail received at home."

  • Had a look at Panasonic website. Smart Connect uses wifi plus an app on smartphone. This is good coz I have always wanted to use bluetooth ear piece for landline but havent found such a phone yet. This would solve the problem.

  • Bought one the other time when DSE had the sale.

Good enough phone in itself, but the SmartConnect (from my experience only) has been pathetic. Unusable on Android (constant audio drops during phone calls), and constant disconnects to the base unit. IOS app is better, but again, just doesn't feel right without proper multitasking (can't see if SmartConnect app is connected on IOS unlike on Android where icon is always present)

    • Had mine for over a year and it's never call dropped, had a quality issue or app crash, it's been perfect.

      • had mine for a year and its fantastic. I actually get better reception right through the house and outside on my android phone (MotoG) my only issue is that if someone starts using the computer while I am using the smartphone the callls drop off

    Overpriced for a cordless phone

  • To those that have this phone, does anyone have issues displaying the wallpaper?
Regardless of whichever wallpaper I select, it'll always either be all black or currently all white.
The actual selected wallpaper only displays as the phone is fully turning off.

  • Hi, Anyone know if this will Pair with a FritzBox?

    • -4

      What is that?

This is a good phone, but the price can be $85 if Dicksmith offer the $20 off $99. so no deal.

I got this before for about $79, when dicksmith doing that.

And DS doing that almost every minute, so this is no bargain….

Hypotheticals aside, this price is the cheapest I could find at the moment and posted it as a bargain.
Neg is a bit rough… Maybe you could have shared your amazing price with the OzB community when your amazing price was available.

      • Sorry to hurt your feeling buddy. Nothing personal.

The cheapest price at a point of time doesn't make anything a bargain.

A bargain is when an item is lower than its usual price.
If I post an item that is cheapest now, knowing that it were 20% cheaper every other month, does that make this item a bargain? There's plenty of examples, usually TV, electronics, headphones, earphones, etc.

I am only saying that this phone usually on sale for $80-$85 at DS, making $100 is not a bargain.

I would share that not-so-amazing price if it happens again, but unfortunately someone always beat me to it.

  • Does this phone support calls without power connected to base station? Couldn't find it in the specifications.

    • As it uses your home wifi I suspect not.

      • Ah yes - good point. Thanks.

Technically you can't "Use your smartphone as an additional DECT handset" - the application you install enables you to access the base station via VoIP (SIP or H.323) using your wifi network. But pedantry aside, very cool. Thanks OP. Bought. I suspect that the only thing left in my house that won't need an IP address now is the kids rabbit. ;-)

Oh, as an aside - VoIP doesn't really need much bandwidth but if you have a patchy wifi network then I would expect that voice quality on this could suffer. If you have issues, make sure that at the very least the base station is in a spot where the signal is half decent.

    • So, had the 'phone now for a couple of days. Had to enable SSID broadcast on the AP for the base station to register - but it worked fine with SSID broadcast disabled once it had connected. Annoying but whatever. When using the app there is definitely a small delay compared with using a DECT handset, but not too bad. The handset itself is good, but as others have noted the volume is low - acceptable when changed to high but could be better. The Android app seems better than the ios app, but the basics are all there. You don't seem to easily be able to setup an intercom call via the app from one 'phone to another (just from the app the the standard handset) although you can call any of the 'phones from the handset. The handset itself is not the most responsive in the world - scrolling through names in the phone book is not quick - but again, it's not like I do that a lot.

So - pretty much they are the only issues I have with it so far, and they are all pretty minor. Overall I'm happy with this thing. We hardly use the landline so being able to answer it with the mobile is very handy (as we tend to lose the dect handsets and/or the battery in them is dead).
