Which Car Seat Is Better?

I don't know which forum category this question would fit in - Automotive or travel - so I am asking here.

Which one makes a better car (Camry - 2013) seat : Neon infra http://infasecure.com.au/products/10-neon/ (Original price around 180 Big W sale price 129)
or SNS Cabrini : http://www.britax.com.au/car-seats/cabrini (Original price around 199 Big W sale price 139)? Both are on sale at bigW and similarly priced (the SNS is but 10 bucks expensive)
Then there is this deal also currently going on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/181244 (OP : 300 sale price : 149). This is my first time and people tell me a car seat's price isn't necessarily an indicator of the product. Has anyone used any of these before ? Which one do you recommend ?

Cheers,

    Both brands are good brands.
I do tend to look at https://www.childcarseats.com.au. The balance by SNS has 4 stars for rearward facing, and 3 for forward facing. You will want to keep your baby rear facing for as long as possible as it is safer. I can't find the other 2 listed on there currently.
I do tend to go for safe and sound where the option is available as they do have a crash exchange program. http://www.britax.com.au/customer-service/crash-exchange

  • How old is the child?

    • Bub's on the way.
Aside : A capsule is something we are not interested in.

I had a safensound for all 3 of our kids. Then a H harness full booster once they hit over 4 years.

        • Thanks for your reply. Which safensound did you have - the cabrini or balance ?

@AussieB: the cabrini (or the model very very similar to it). they are all made fairly similar and to standard. easy to install and remove and clean. if I was going to have a 4th (no way in hell) then I'd go that model again.

        • H harnesses are no longer recommended unless you have a lap only belt. The tests showed they are no safer than a lap sash seatbelt when used correctly but 99% of the time the H harnesses were being used incorrectly.

For a child over 4 the safest option is a type G seat which has an inbuilt harness until approx 8. After that a booster seat with lap sash seatbelt.

they're both sold at bigW, why not go down and have a touch/play?

OP, if you google the Neon you'll find it highly recommended on the Mother & Baby sites and come across reviews where they say the baby loves it, so cheap and looks good and is comfortable & most importantly can keep the baby rear facing for much longer than the other seats.

I took those reviews with a pinch of salt, but purchased it for the 2nd car for occasional use. And by golly those reviewers are right, for a cheap no frills seat this is spot on and the kid likes it so much more than the more expensive main seat.

  • Thank you for replies. Cheers

The Neon is actually $115 at the moment in the baby sale. It's a great seat. Have a olay with both. I have a Kompressor which is an upscale verion of the neon and it is great.

  • If you are on Facebook the group 'child restraints, is your child restrained correctly' has great info.

Ps excuse spelling in my posts! Feeding the baby!
