Deodorant sprays ripoff prices

Am starting to get a bit jack from paying $4-$6 per can of mens deodorant spray (eg. Rexona) which hardly last more than a dozen or so applications.

Can anybody recommend a place to buy these or similar quality cans at a more reasonable price?

Aldi roll ons Prince for around 1.8 dollars I believe.

  • I think you're just putting way too much on. My spray cans last at least a month at a time by just doing a short spray under each arm after showering.

Chemist Warehouse currently have Rexona Men deodorant antiperspirant for $3.39. Check out this link:

Personally, I don't like using sprays coz I don't like inhaling the fumes and I think half of it ends up in the air instead of on your skin.

    Sligtly off-topic rant:

Not only are you inhaling aluminum-based compounds when you use spray on deodorant, you're deliberately blocking your lymph nodes.

While the evidence is inconclusive, the information on this page is enough for me to rethink my use of deodorants and shower regularly instead.

I'd like to think that most of us would be showering regularly regardless of deodorant/antiperspirant use… rather than using it instead of..

Ie. those of us who find the need to use products to reduce sweat or body odour are actually already showering as frequently as possible (twice daily) but still find it difficult and need something extra.

People don't seriously use these things in place of showering, do they?! lol

      Oh god. That's so gross.

      I'm glad you've decided to shower regularly…

Showering too often also has other issues (not good for skin). I've heard more than once that it's better to shower less than once a day. For me, I don't think I'd like to live without a daily shower, but twice daily sounds not good.

        http://www.med-health.net/How-Often-Should-You-Shower.html

In most cases you only need to shower twice out of each three days and some people can do so just every other day. When you avoid showering daily, your skin is better able to maintain its balance, making it radiant and healthy.

      • I'm so glad that what you got out of my post is that I shower regularly. Never mind the information about aluminum and cancer.

Fact is that sweating is good for you for a number of reasons.

And yeah it's gross, but some people use deodorant in liu of showering.

What information? The inconclusive stuff you linked? That's speculation, not information. I'm not even sure if you've read that whole page yourself.

Just because it's an aluminium compound doesn't mean it's going to have the same harmful effects on the body as pure aluminium. Do some googling - get yourself acquainted with some basic chemistry understanding.

Personally, I believe in living in a way that errs on the side of caution when things are in doubt / inconclusive like this - much like you seem to be (so in that way, we are in agreement). But to fear-monger and vocalise it to others in such way, using the big C as a fear tactic, is absurd, I think.

P.S. beware of dihydrogen monoxide! :P

        • @waterlogged turnip:

I got dihydrogen monoxide poisoning once. I almost died.

  • Nivea Silver Protect Roll-on. $3 lasts for 3 months of daily use

  • I just get the 3 pack of Rexona at Coles, which is about $10 iirc. Lasts me 3-4 months. You could try using less, as a wuick spray is really all that's required. Alternatively, roll-ons seem to give better bang for your buck, so you could try that.

My 2 cents would be buy roll-on! Plus you wont be breathing in that toxic crap everytime you gas the bathroom/changeroom!

  • How much do you spray??? I use Old Spice - Matterhorn, once maybe twice a day and 1 can lasts 2 - 3 months

I buy natural deodorant as opposed to the aluminium laden stuff (stops you smelling as opposed to drying up sweat), however if was to try to buy regular deodorant on the cheap I'd buy it from my local market where there is a stall that sells all the grey import versions for dirt cheap.

And please guys, on behalf of society, stop drowning yourself in Lynx. I near fainted the other day in Coles, a guy had so much Lynx on.

  • My five cents worth.
As others have stated, I think you may be using too much. I alternate between two brands Rexona and Nivea spray on, I find them both to be just as effective as each other and you have a better chance of finding either on sale at 1/2 price which is when I stock up, otherwise you're right, its a complete rip off. I know everyone is different but I find a 150gm can lasts me about 3-4 weeks and I think I use too much. Roll on doesn't seem to work too well for me so I stick to spray on, and guess what, I use the women's fragrances. They are more subtle if you pick the right ones so you don't smell of deodorant too much at all. Cotton fresh is a pretty neutral one. No ones ever noticed or said anything about womens fragrance on me….or maybe they're too scared they'll get clobbered. LOL…. Hope this helps a little.

Just give yourself a quick spray buddy, no need to over do it. If you are using a can in 12 uses you are using too much!

  • Norsca Varieties @ $2.99 Offer valid Wed 11 Feb - Tue 17 Feb 2015

  • Priceline often have specials for less than half price. I normally stock up when they have these specials. As low as $2 a can

Rexona is horrible. It goes on so dry it just makes a dusty mess. It has always been this way but gotten far worse

  • Haven't used spray deodorant since high school. Now I have chemical sensitivity when someone spray these around me I get asthma within a few minutes. Thoroughly recommend roll on, even for your own health. Or simply wash at night, change into a freshly laundered shirt each day. I don't mind fresh sweat on others at all, but seems most people are bothered by it. A healthy natural human smell has become too foreign for the modern artificial human.

  • I use a stick deodorant I bought in Paris last October…..

  • I use Nivea Black & White Invisible roll on. It has aluminium but supposedly has a formula that doesn't stain shirts - seems to work well.

    • I never seem to have the same luck where it comes to invisible ones :( I've tried this and it still leaves marks

  • Spray Fresh for around $2.50 for 150g and made by Aspen Pharmacare

  • Too many replies to read. I'm not happy that deodorant/antiperspirant roll-ons rarely go on special like the sprays do.
