Car Crash. To Replace The Whole Door or to Fix The Dents/Scuffs?

Hi,

So while changing lanes, my car hit a van. (My party at fault). The van has a dent at the front left. But my car is in much worse condition. There are scuffs, scratches and dents to my driver side doors (both front and back) and the right side of the back bumper. I'm planning to make a claim with Allianz (I have comprehensive car insurance). The car is only a month old. Toyota Corolla Sedan SX 2014.
The question is after I make the claim should I replace the whole doors or should I just get it buffed, painted, etc?(Do I have a choice?) Will it make a difference to next years premiums depending on which method I choose to go with.

Thanks

the panel beater will figure out what the best fix is and the insurance will cover the lot.
You have a brand new car, get it fixed properly even if insurance increases (and that depends on what rating etc)

    You won't have a choice.
They'll return it to like new condition.

If a no claim bonus is on your policy, and this claim negates that then yes your premium will change according to your policy rules. You have to check your pds or ask Allianz.

  • No choice, let the Insurance company know NOW. Do not wait or they may not cover you. Then the rest is all upto Allianz, not much you can say.

    • Well I tried calling Allianz and they aren't picking up… despite it saying 24 hours. I'm just placed on an infinite hold. My brother who was involved didn't record any of the drivers details except for his registration plate (was NOT hit and run.) So should I still attempt to make the claim? Or try call tomorrow morning (if they even pick up…) Not sure what I should do. :(

      • can i ask why he didnt ?
its nice to know who was driving when you got hit , not just who the car is registered to,
you still make the claim tho.

I tried asking too… gave up. Would only end up me shunning him.

I'm assuming from what you've said; the driver of the van did not produce a licence/name/address to exchange.

I may be incorrect, but I'm quite sure that it is illegal not producing details like that.

          @lambsie:
its illegal to refuse to give the information, but sounds like the guy didnt try to get the info

        • @Settero:

My brother didn't even ask for his details… All he got was the number plate (which I saw in the dashcam footage). I later spoke to the other driver and he provided me with his details. All is good now, just waiting for a reply from allianz after I lodged a claim on Saturday.

          Thank you all! :)
