How perfect should I expect new robe doors to be?

Hello

We just has some Stegbar sliding robe doors fitted. I just gave then a clean and I notice that there are quite a few scuff marks on them. For instance most of the rubber end pieces that run down the length of the doorson the side are scuffed with black and I can't get it off, there are also a few little nicks and a couple of scuffs out of the metal sliders top and bottom. Its not noticeable unless you look closely but I guess I was expecting 'perfect' doors for the price we paid. The doors themselves, 2 x vinyl and 2 x mirror I think are fine.

I did notice that when they were unloaded they weren't protected with any plastic, they just came out of the van as it and installed s I guess it has happened loading them in and out etc.

So I am undecided weather to go back to Stegbar and complain or am I expecting too much? Post not at all bargain related as the doors were no bargain but would appreciate any feedback.

Cheers

Is it something like new car syndrome? Every little scratch is noticeable at the beginning, but after a while it just doesn't matter? If they're functionally fine, it's probably not worth the fight.

Perhaps send some feedback to the company to share your concerns and let them know their installation service could be improved. If the company is good, they may offer to help you out somehow

  • If you have the time, I reckon you should let them know. I mean when you buy something new, you would expect the thing to be new, especially if you did pay good money for someone to deliver/install it(I don't know if you did). Just imagine if you bought a new phone and it wasn't delivered in a box and now it has a scratch at the back or some scuff marks that you can't get rid of from the delivery guy.

  • Ask the manager if this is the company's standards…

  • Your wardrobe doors should be perfect.

I understand. Waratah wardrobes did my wardrobes and the guy they sent me did a crappy job. They say they have 20 years experience but they send out other people. I was so disappointed… I was referred by my sister and the couple who did her wardrobes were excellent but the guy who did mine took twice as long and damaged the wall. I'm never using them again. I had even requested the same people who did my sister's wardrobe to do mine but they didn't even listen to me.

  • Thanks for the replies,

Yes, I think there is definitely some new car syndrome there ( as I only really noticed the marks when cleaning) but it has still left me feeling slightly unhappy with my purchase. There is no way that the scuff marks could be made with normal wear and tear either. So I am going to let them know as otherwise I would only be thinking what if.

    Cheers

  • Let them know. I didn't let Waratah Wardrobes know about mine as it was done but I really should have. I just find some tradespeople can be so crap! Found them online.

Even the guy who did my kitchen Ashley from OzWide Kitchens didn't do a proper job either. He left a piece of skirting too short and didn't concrete the tap pipes behind the sink. My plumber told me it should have been done. I don't want them coming back and ripping it all up again when they have already finished the job and it wasn't up to standard. Terrible. I also noticed scratches on a cupboard door as well.

Annoying isn't it, as if renovating wasn't hard enough as it is.

      • It's very annoying when they don't do things properly and take shortcuts. Have to watch them but sometimes you just can't!

  • I would complain. Near enough isn't good enough! At the very least, you might be able to get some money back.

  • Same same story but different,

we just had a ducted aircon installed by a large company, Who subcontract the work out,

    Got an amazing price,
Had 7 lads instaling it over 1.5 days.
They left the place a mess and damaged our man hole cover,

We rang and explained our concerns,

They refunded us $100 and came around 3 more times to fix all the things i found wrong after I started looking.. (dirty finger prints, tiles not replaced properly)

I felt like I was being a little over the top, But I thought,NO I wouldnt leave a jobsite like this, And we paid $12k for the job They can bloodywell do it right…

Im just glad it was before summer… Would hate to think how they work when have peak time.. Ducted aircon, Love it, But not fun to be around being installed!
