Looking for a bargain unlocked smartphone for less $100 for basic web browsing and phonecalls.

Anyone make a recommendation or snabbed a good deal lately?

    If you don't mind Telstra locked phones. Lumia 530 from Woolies locked to Telstra is $39.50 I believe.

        Even if you are not interested in Telstra, if you go for a budget phone under $100, Lumia 520, 525, 530 series are a decent choice. I unfortunately don't know other deals, but unlocked 530s should be under $100. Though as they are Windows phone, app selections are awful, but they do what they are built for at the very least.

    Boast View 5.0 for $99 is not bad if you are with Boost/Telstra. Box and Boost site state it has a 5MP camera but the rear camera actually is 8MP (same as the Pop C7 from Alcatel which it's based on).

    Only 512MB RAM though.

    I have the both the 530 and a Boost View (530 is 5MP whilst Boost one is 8MP-as EXIF data in Photoshop for photos imported from the latter indicates 3840x2160)

      Yes, Y550 @ DSE is the best option. It comes with 4G cat 4 and 1GB RAM, blows off all other competitors miles away.

    So many options, yet all locked to a specific network.

      Heaps of options and great bang for buck.

      THL 4000 is well built, and you'll never have to worry for battery life. It's a bit chunky due to the battery size, but responsive and dirt cheap can be had for about $US85 delivered provided you're happy to wait a few weeks.
