Hi guys and girls,
I am currently after 2 x 2.5" portable hard drives for xmas presents. Looking at hopefully around the $100 mark? If push comes to shove, may look at smaller (eg. 250gb or 320gb) if need be.
Thinking maybe a Seagate or WD - open to any suggestions as to a decent brand/price.
Have seen some for $100+post on here a few weeks back.
Will require postage as I'm in country NSW.
Thanks!
If it has to be a proper branded Seagate or WD, then the better option could be to head down to your nearest Dick Smith or Betta Electrical to have a look at their $159 offerings as per links below… they both have stores in regional NSW, and hopefully one near you?

If you're just referring to the hard drive inside you should be able to find a much better price if you look around. Start with the price comparison sites like StaticIce and so forth…
I'm not really sure that there's that much difference between the brands. I think people can have contrasting opinions about which brands are better due to bad past experiences, and I'm not sure that any brand could be singled out as far as a reputation for unreliability.
Finally, if you're confident you could also look at getting an internal 2.5" drive plus an enclosure… in my experience there's not much to it, but just be sure the enclosure will take 500gb drives. Judging by the 'customers also purchased', this pair might be alright:
