Had one in my cart but released it. The features list says it has "Voice Control", which I think means it's a 3rd Generation (the latest).

It has the mic/voice control, so it has to be 3rd gen.

Got a somewhat confusing response when trying to confirm whether or not this is a grey market import. They couldn't confirm that it has Apple Australia warranty/support, said that the warranty is via 1-day, and that the product is sourced from New Zealand with an Apple NZ warranty (as warranties are often Aus/NZ, does that include Australia?).
Apple's warranty for the iPod applies internationally, wherever the product was purchased. Since 1-day is not an authorised Apple or iPod reseller, though, the warranty may have already started from the date 1-day acquired the iPods rather than your date of purchase. However, Apple may be willing to offer you the 12-month warranty from your date of purchase if you show them your receipt.

i don't think apple will anyhow release their latest product so cheap.Not true; the 2nd gen doesn't have a microphone and Apple don't include the voice control function in the software for the 2nd gen. Voice control only works with the iPod touch 3rd gen and iPhone 3GS (not 3G or 1st gen) at present.
