True, DHCP could be playing up on the router and OP might have the settings set to a new lease every x hours instead of every x days. Causing instability/drops in the connection.
Whats DHCP means?
In simple terms: it's basically a Protocol/Service that assigns your computer/device an IP address so it can talk to the router and ultimately the WAN Internet circuit. Basically without DHCP, you would have to manually assign all your devices IP addresses and worry about which subnet mask and what not to use!
We too are with TPG. I wanted to connect to IPTV but we have a Netgear . N600 DGND3700v2 and it won't allow you to have a second account so no IPTV for us unless we change modem/ router. This aside it is a good modem/ router
I'm pretty sure you just need the one primary TPG account for IPTV. That's what I've done anyway. You just have to follow their online guide to set up the protocols and IP address entries on your router. Then you need to download the plug-in on your computer and IPTV should start working. Best way to get the IPTV settings actually for your router is to call TPG Tech Support and they will walk you through it.
I rang TPG tech support. They were great. It's the modem/ router that has to have a second account from memory and this particular one won't allow another account. The routers TPG supply you with do.
Ok fair enough!
Are you after a modem/router combo or just a modem? I currently use this. Paired with a Netgear 3800 in bridge mode, don't have any issues with this setup at all.
I am just looking that modem combine both internet and wifi with stable signal and unlock.
Any of them.. NB5plus4 is VERY old, probably close to dying.
In the meantime, maybe just try setting a ststic IP address on your computer.
Sounds like something is going wrong with DHCP.
