Can We Buy Dental Insurance Alone in Australia?

Hi Guys,

I am relatively new to Australia and would like to know if I can buy Dental Insurance alone here in Sydney as I have my Employer Health Insurance which just doesn't cover Dental?

Could you please point me to few insurance companies and URL to refer?

Thanks a million

you might be able to talk to your employer about having extras added on and deducting from you pay etc.

    • This might be a good solution. You could also talk directly to the insurer you have now to find out about adding dental.
My past calculations show that dental cover is a net loss unless you need steady, on-going substantial work, but the insurance does spread out the costs a bit I guess.
Obviously, the insurers expect nearly everyone will pay more in premiums than they claim. Add the annual and life time limits on costly procedures and it looks pretty marginal.

  • welcome! Yes, you can purchase just dental cover along:-

    • Thx Trex.. You guys are so helpful. I am glad to be part of this community\forum

    • Just wondering, I stay in NSW and this talks about WA. Can I buy from HBF?

      • Better not because HBF's panel dentists would be concentrated in WA.

You can check up other health insurers like HCF, Medibank, Bupa, nib etc. Look for one that has strong presence in NSW.
