Any Suggestions for Entry Level DSLR ?

Parents lost there Canon 1100D in London :( while still on vacation. I need to buy them a entry level DSLR something like canon 110d which they had.

Can you please give your suggestions and bargain around? If I can buy it online and ship directly to their London address it will be gr8.

First check the shipping costs to London. That will be a killer.

The only solution would be to buy offshore - say Hong Kong and have them ship it to London.

But they may have to pay VAT on delivery in either case.

Personally they may be better buying a cheap one in London

    • Thanks. Yeah best is to find any local seller in England or atleast who directly ship to London like ebay, amazon etc.

Just curious if any one knows any similar bargains/deal sites for UK?

I'd check out Amazon UK, and Jessops.

        • Thanks. …will do.

any suggestions for a specific entry level DSLR?

        • If your parents need you to look this up for them, I'm guessing they're not using any advanced features. I'd probably just get them the 1200D, as it will be closest to what they had, and don't need to learn new buttons, menus, features.

I personally would consider the Nikon D3200 better value, but might be harder for your parents to use if they're used to Canon:

Also, you might want to check up on VAT (UK's GST). It's pretty heavy, possibly it can be reclaimed at airport? Might want to check if they pick up from a Jessops actual shop if it will make a difference or not.

    Leica Titanium M9

    • Why i get negged? Entry-level sucks. Good students quickly outgrow "entry-level" and besides, the leica is easier to use than virtually every Canon and Nikon.

  • Since your parents have been using a Canon, you should get another Canon as replacement. I'm using a Canon 600D which I feel is a good balance of function, weight and cost so I would recomment 600D or its newer models 650D or 700D.
